The Best Is Yet to Come

The Super Bowl may be over, but we still have so much to look forward to this semester.

The Best Is Yet to Come

Spring semester is in swing. Everyone is (or should be) settled in with their new course load, internships, jobs and whatever else you would need to settle into. The new sorority pledge classes are bright-eyed and bushy-tailed and more loved than ever (as they should be)!

Less than a month in and we have already gotten our first snow delay, even though every single student who was here last year wishes we could have a repeat of Spring Semester 2014 and have chunks of days cancelled at a time.

Chances are, us Villanova students won't be that lucky this Spring but hey, we can all dream.

However! Not all hope is lost, my friends! In my extremely humble opinion, I believe this semester is going to be just as good if not better than last Spring.

Whyyyy? You may ask.

Because we have so many things to look forward to.

We have been looking forward to Super Bowl Sunday for weeks, dreaming of endless streams of our favorite beer and bottomless buckets of chicken wings. But now that it's over, we need something to look forward to. Something that is going to motivate us to get through the days of classes, studying, and job/internship applications.

So here are a few of the things that I am most looking forward to for the remainder of the semester and some things that I think will make this Spring one for the books.

Basketball.

This is very self-explanatory and if you don't understand the meaning of the above term, I highly suggest you log on to lottery.villanova.edu and get your tush to a Nova basketball game. This year's team is on fire and with a team this good, dedicating time to get to the games is more than worth it. The road to the tournament is hotter than ever and our beloved Wildcats are in a very good place. If the thought of spending hours tailgating in the parking lot of the Wells Fargo Center or simply cheering on the winning Cats to victory time and again doesn't get you pumped for the rest of the semester, frankly I don't know what will. Basketball season is among us people! Get your vocal chords warmed up because we have a long season of chanting "Go Cats!" ahead!

Functions.

Grab-a-Date, Cocktail, Formal — Oh My! For all of us Greek-lifers, function season is something to look forward to. And if you haven't had your first function of the semester yet, I am sure it is right around the corner. Time to round up your favorite dates, spend hours on picking the perfect outfit and get ready to dance the night away.

Spring Break.

Once again, self-explanatory. Who doesn't love the thought of a good tan, delicious cocktails, and the feeling of warm sand between your toes while you're surrounded by your best friends? Whether you're going home or to a foreign land, a break from school is a break from school and we will take them any way they come. Just sit back, relax, and enjoy the time when you are actually forced to take a step back from responsibility because that luxury will only be around for so long.

Greek Week.

Next to Spring Break, I venture to say that Greek Week is the most anticipated week of the year. It's a week filled with "wholesome" competition between sororities and fraternities. This is the only week where we can be caddy and get away with it. But all's fair in love and Greek Week am I right? Who will have the best theme? Who will put the most dollar bills in the other chapter's buckets? That remains to be seen. But I know sorority girls and frat bros throughout campus await this beloved week and the friendly competition that lies ahead.

Good Weather.

Once it gets warm, it's time to break out the sunnies and take sun by the Oreo. Procrastinating homework to play some music and have a catch in the quad is what college is all about. The good weather makes you happy to be a Nova student and happy to be alive. Eat lunch outside, hangout with your friends and just enjoy the fact that campus is gorgeous.

Fall semester is fun but Spring semester will sure to be one for the books. Some good ole basketball, functions and wholesome competition will definitely make you feel #blessed to go to a school as great as ours.

The best superpower ever? Being invisible of course. Imagine just being able to go from seen to unseen on a dime. Who wouldn't want to have the opportunity to be invisible? Superman and Batman have nothing on being invisible with their superhero abilities. Here are some things that you could do while being invisible, because being invisible can benefit your social life too.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
