Why Spring Semester Is The Best Semester

Fall semester is fun, but spring semester flies by.

Why Spring Semester Is The Best Semester

Don’t get me wrong, fall semester is fun, especially if you go to a huge football school like I do. Saturday tailgates are one of my favorite parts of college. Fall semester is also fun because everyone just got back from a long summer break and is excited to party it up in their college town. However, spring semester seems to fly by for me because there is always something to do!

Warmer (and brighter) days.

Spring is right around the corner and the days are getting warmer. Days get increasingly colder during fall semester, which really puts a damper on things. However, when it is warm and sunny, campus is full of life! Students are everywhere and it is awesome! After being cooped up all winter, who wouldn’t want to be outside? Warm days make college so much more enjoyable.

Students actually exist.

During the winter months, finding students is tough since everyone is tucked away in their dorms watching Netflix, escaping the cold. Once the sun comes out though, students are everywhere! All of the Greek organizations fundraise outside of their houses, students play football on the lawn, people are studying in the grass, and everyone is in a better mood! The campus pretty much dies after football season, but comes alive again once the warmer weather comes back.

Dage season.

Or darty season, whichever you prefer. These day time parties complete the college experience. I find them amusing, as half of the students there are skipping class to be there while the other half are enjoying themselves in between their classes… with their backpacks on and all. Professors try not to care when students come to class smelling of the last drink they had. One of my professors even let us out early so we could go dage! Dages are a great way to enjoy the beautiful weather with a cold drink in hand.

Spring Break.

Spring Break usually falls halfway through the semester. It is a week that students take full advantage of for traveling. Spring Break is a great thing to look forward to. Fall semester has short weekend breaks, such as fall break or Thanksgiving. The long winter break lands at the end of the fall semester, so there truly is nothing to get excited about that occurs during the semester. Looking forward to something definitely helps the semester go by super quick! In addition, when you return from Spring Break refreshed and relaxed, the rest of the semester flies by. Before you know it, summer is here!

Better clothing.

Winter means you need to get all bundled up just to walk to class. If your university is anything like mine, your walk is at least ten minutes long. Lugging around your winter clothing all day gets old after a while. I love spring semester because I can throw on a sun dress and head out the door. Let's not forget that I can get a slight tan by just walking to class!

No matter what, each semester has the dreaded midterms and finals. Fall semester is wonderful when football season is in full swing. After football season though, there is really not much to look forward to, minus the holidays. However, spring semester is so cheery once the weather gets nicer. There is so much to look forward to, especially Spring Break! Spring semester goes by so fast, and before I know it, I am laying on the beach enjoying summer break ahead of me.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
