Spring Semester, As Told By Michael Scott

Arriving back in Bloomington after winter break.

Finally reuniting with your friends after three long weeks apart.

.

Going out syllabus week because you have no responsibilities.

When the homework load actually sets in.

Dressing up for the first weeks of class because you have a ton of new clothes.

The first snowfall of the semester.

Your feelings about the snow for the rest of the semester.

Staying inside and binge-watching Netflix because it's too cold to do anything else.

Trying to convince your friends to go out even though it's below zero outside.

Or when your friends try to get you to go out in that kind of weather.

When you have a hot date for Valentine's Day.

Or if you couldn't be more single.

Planning your spring break trip and getting overly excited about it.

Running into last semester's hook-up on campus.

The first day over 50 degrees.

So you celebrate because you finally get to go out and darty.

Trying to study for midterms and realizing you haven't learned anything this semester.

When the SRSC gets crowded from everyone working on their spring break bods.

Trying and failing to keep up with your spring break diet.

And accepting your body just the way it is.

When your professor gives you homework over break.

Finally leaving Bloomington for spring break.

Arriving in Florida or whatever other college playground your friends chose for the week.

Getting back to campus hungover and exhausted from your crazy week.

Seeing Instagram and Facebook pictures from your friend's spring break when you didn't go anywhere.

Anticipating the Little 5 concert announcement.

Trying to schedule an appointment with your advisor to sign up for fall classes.

Getting a small taste of Little 5 during Quals weekend.

That point of the semester when you become overloaded with schoolwork.

Too many presentations.

Too many exams.

Too many papers.

And way too many assigned readings that you never do anyways.

When Little 5 week finally arrives.

Teachers who count attendance during Little 5 week.

Trying to avoid excise cops all week.

Running out of money after spending it all over Little 5.

Spending all of dead week catching up on everything that you procrastinated with for the entire semester.

Getting free stuff on campus all week because people feel bad for you and all of the torture you're enduring.

Hanging out at Dunn Meadow with the dogs on Rent-A-Puppy Day to make yourself feel better.

Taking one last trip to the quarries before you leave Bloomington for the summer.

Your feelings for the entire duration of finals week.

And when they're finally over.

Packing up your stuff to move out and not knowing where anything is.

Saying goodbye to all of your friends for the whole summer.

Finally leaving Bloomington.

Reminiscing on the semester and looking forward to returning to IU in the fall to do it all over again.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
