5 Things To Remember To Do For Yourself When You Are In A Relationship

When you are in a relationship, a million things can be going on so just remember you do these five things for yourself.

1. Stay healthy, physically and mentally

Whenever you start a relationship, it is statically proven that couples will typically gain weight. Once you settle down, you don't need to care as much about your appearance, and you typically eat out more often. Make sure you are still taking care of your body and your health because you don't want to realize six months in that you've gained 10 lbs.

Also, make sure that you are mentally healthy. Have open and honest lines of communication with your partner if you are ever stressed or anxious because keeping it bottled in only makes everything worse.

2. Make time with your friends

No matter how in love you are you also need to make sure you keep a healthy relationship with your friends. Whether it is spending every other weekend with them or dedicating time to watch your favorite show together, make sure you don't forget about them when you start a new relationship.

3. Make time for yourself

This may be one of the most important things you need to remember to do in your life. Although spending the day cuddling sounds amazing, you need to make sure you have some time to yourself too. Whether it's making sure you spend enough time studying or doing homework or just relaxing on your own, doing your own thing, just make sure you carve out some alone time.

4. Make sure you are happy

This is similar to the first one, but you need to make sure you are happy. If you are not happy in your relationship, why are you still in it? Love is only supposed to better your life and make you happier and your partner should never continuously bring you down, they should lift you up.

5. Have fun

Balancing your life between your partner, friends, and yourself should not be added stress in your life. If you found the right partner and you have great friends it should all come naturally. Just make sure you are able to have fun in your life. You only get every day once so just live your life to its fullest extent and enjoy!

We all have a love hate relationship with winter, lets be real here. It happens to all of us, the weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas the catch up with you.

Thanksgiving Break is most likely everyone’s favorite break during the fall semester. You get to go home and reminisce with all your high school friends. That diet you’ve been on for the past month goes out the window, and you get to eat until you put yourself into a food coma. There’s no rush on homework and you can just lie in bed and Netflix to your heart’s content. To me that sounds like an ideally wonderful break, and totally stress-free.

Even Shonda Rhimes, winning creator and executive producer of the hit TV shows Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, Scandal, How to Get Away with Murder, and The Catch agrees that relationships with fictional characters are real. In her book, The Year of Yes she states, "I have spent more time with Meredith and Christina then many of my actual friends...When you watched TV, even spending a full hour with Christina once a week, you were likely spending more time with her then you spent with most people in your life. That relationship was real."
