10 Movies To Watch This Valentine's Season

In This Article:

Whether you are spending a night in with your special someone or just Netflix & chilling with a tub of ice cream and your tv, movies are a great way to celebrate Valentine's Day. From Hulu to HBO, you do not need access to every streaming platform in order to watch an amazing movie this February. Here are a few of my favorites that you will hopefully enjoy watching regardless of your relationship status.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower

This popular drama is one of my personal favorites. It has everything you want in a movie from friendship and comedy to love and romance. If you haven't watched this film yet, it would have to be my favorite recommendation. If you have already had the pleasure to become acquainted with Charlie, Sam and Patrick, it does not hurt to rewatch – and maybe you will discover something new about this coming-of-age story.

Available for purchase on Amazon Prime, Youtube, Google Play, Vudu & iTunes.

Love, Rosie

The easiest way to describe this movie is a series of unfortunate events that lead to an amazing outcome. The boy-girl relationship between two childhood best friends is tested through twists and turns which create a beautiful story of love, friendship and growing up.

Available for free with a Netflix subscription and for purchase on Amazon Prime, Youtube, Google Play, Vudu & iTunes.

One Day

Before you dive into this fantastic drama, I am sorry. This is the easiest movie to hate but also the easiest to love. The complex love story between Emma and Dexter will keep you on the edge of your seat the entire film. Both characters are dynamic yet one thing continues to remain true throughout their relationship – July 15th will always be a special day.

Available for free with a Netflix subscription and for purchase on Amazon Prime, Youtube, Google Play, Vudu & iTunes.

Stuck in Love

Stuck in Love succeeds in showing a family who struggles with relationships in different ways. If you think your love life is bad, just wait until you watch this family try to navigate through their emotions. All of the characters' perspectives are able to come together and unite despite their flaws and helps you to realize that being hung up on somebody will teach you a lesson – sometimes good and sometimes bad.

Available for free with a Sling TV subscription, for free with Tubi, Vudu & Crackle, and for purchase on Amazon Prime, Youtube & Google Play.

Just Go With It

If you want to lighten the mood, this romantic-comedy is the perfect pick. When a lie gets stretched too far, Danny Maccabee has to decide what his heart truly wants – a life of lies or a life he never expected. Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston are sure to make you laugh in this story about love, family and destiny.

Available for free with a Sling TV subscription and for purchase on Amazon Prime, Youtube, Google Play, Vudu & iTunes.

Then Came You

A hypochondriac and terminally ill teenager cross paths to complete everything on her bucket list. Along the way, the two become friends while also testing each other's limits – especially in regards to love and dating. While this may seem like your average story of yet another person with a terminal illness, I promise there is so much more depth within this film.

Available for free with a Netflix subscription and for purchase on Amazon Prime, Youtube & Google Play.

Can't Buy Me Love

One of my personal retro 80's romantic-comedies starring Patrick Dempsey before his Grey's Anatomy "McDreamy" days, creates an unexpected relationship out of a stained outfit. It may not be normal to pay a person to fake date you; however, Ronald and Cindy are very convincing in their ways – although money can not truly buy love.

Available for purchase on Amazon Prime, Youtube, Google Play, Vudu & iTunes.

After

Before you say it, yes ... the book is better than the movie – but that does not mean the movie is not fantastic too. When I first saw the trailer, I was thinking it would be full of sex-addicted college students, yet I was surprised when I realized how multi-dimensional the relationship between Tessa and Hardin was. While I still may not recommend this being your next pick for family movie night, it is the perfect choice to get into the Valentine's Day spirit.

Available for free with a Netflix subscription and for purchase on Amazon Prime, Youtube, Vudu & Google Play.

Footloose

While I placed the trailer for the 2011 version, the classic 1984 version with Kevin Bacon is equally as amazing. A movie about singing, dancing and loving despite societal pressures was popular over 30 years ago and still manages to garner praise in four decades later. If you want a feel good romance, have yourself a Footloose marathon and watch both versions – but don't forget to dance throughout the films.

Footloose (1984) is available with a Sling TV & Starz subscription and for purchase on Amazon Prime, Youtube, Google Play, Vudu & iTunes.

Footloose (2011) is available for purchase on Amazon Prime, Youtube, Google Play, Vudu & iTunes.

50 First Dates

This movie is the perfect example of "love conquers all." Getting the girl is difficult, but even more difficult when memory-loss is added to the picture. Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler are able to make this impossible love story look simple through humor and dedication.

Available for purchase on Amazon Prime, Youtube, Google Play, Vudu & iTunes.

An Honorable Mention goes out to every Nicholas Sparks movie ever created. If you have the time, watch all 12 of them.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
