What Not To Do On Valentine's Day

Go to see a movie by yourself, take a nice long bath, whatever you have to do, just love doing it.

If you're looking for an article that's about all the beautiful things you can get for your significant other on Valentine's Day, then this is not the article for you. Here are 11 things that you shouldn't do on valentines day.

First things first:

1. Don't show up with an empty heart

You know the saying, "Never Show Up Empty-Handed." Well, this is the same thing, except you just can't come into the day feeling selfish. Leave all selfish tendencies behind and have a good day.

2. Don't be selfish.

I believe this day is for both members of a couple. All people should be treated with the same affection and the day should be happy for everyone.

3. Set the rules

Decide whether gifts are going to be given or not. No one wants to be in the awkward position of one person getting the other a gift while the other is left sitting thinking about how they don't have a gift to give to you.

4. Don't make it about the material possessions

During valentines day it is easy to get caught up in material things we can get. I want a bear, chocolate, and etc... Sometimes it should just be about spending quality time together.

5. Don't come empty handed

If it was talked about and everyone agrees to bring gifts then don't be the one person to ruin it. This isn't Christmas time with Secret Santa, where you can secretly "forget" to buy someone a gift and still receive a pair of socks.

6. Don't hate

For the single ones out there, there are the occasional Valentine's Day haters in the world and we all know who they are. But, however you feel about the day, it's best to mind your own business, keep to your own opinions, and let the lovers have their day.

7. Don't seclude yourself to your room

Spend time with your homies and less time with your bed. It's Valentine's day, but it doesn't necessarily mean it has to be about a couple. It can simply be chilling with your pals, watching a movie, and eating some snacks.

8. Don't be the opposite of adventurous

This is the day to try new things, meet new people, and just have fun. Go outo see a movie by yourself, take a nice long bath, whatever you have to do, just love doing it.

9. Don't be non-appreciative

If someone takes the day out to talk to you, see you, or take you out, you can't show that you didn't appreciate it. Show love to everyone and love will be received. Always be thankful for the things that you have.

10. Don't make any harsh plans

If you've been thinking about leaving your boyfriend for the past week, Valentine's Day may not be the best choice. Keep all rash decisions to a minimum and make good choices.

11. Don't do anything besides relax

If all goes wrong, some simple "me time" should surpass the unwanted time. Kick up your feet and go to sleep.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
