Senior year is the year that is filled with many lasts and a group of friends that you may not see anymore. Graduation is the date that everyone is counting down for and the day that all of those lasts close in on you. This is senior year and it is your teenage life coming to a close and your future coming to life. Your life is changing and there is no going back.
You turn 18 and you are finally an "adult." You are finally able to buy lottery tickets and have a later curfew. You start to buy stuff for the upcoming college year and you cannot wait to make more friends when you join that sorority you have always wanted to be in. You are on your own and you will start making life your own.
You go to your last football game. You cheer your team on and you have a great time with your friends but it is the last time you will dress up in your school colors to cheer on the team that has been you focal point for four years.
You write your last paper. All those times you have spent hating English and writing papers, you will cherish when the last paper you stayed up for hours the night before is turned in. The nights of barely any sleep is over, at least the moments you spent writing papers.
You attend your last school dance. They have been dumb and not very fun, but spending that time with close friends and getting all dolled up is worth it in the end. It is the last one and the next day you get dressed up for is your wedding day.
You spend your last night out with friends. They are all going their separate ways and you may not see them again because they might not come back. Those late nights are not over, they are just over with that group of friends.
You attend that high school just one more time. The last day of school has come and that high school corridors are just simple history to you. You will never walk through those doors again.
Growing up is scary and there are many lasts that come creeping up on you. However, is is worth is because your life is just starting. Don't be sad about these lasts, embrace them and make your life a blast!
