College basketball is finally back and we fans can rejoice. Growing up, I preferred the NBA to college basketball, but going to college changed that notion. Something about being at all of the home games and making road trips is so special. As an Arizona fan, watching them beat Michigan State was exciting and the Kansas-Indiana game after was also great.

With the season underway, here are a few reasons why college basketball is so wonderful.

Hating Duke

No matter who your college hoops team is, odds are you either love the Duke Blue Devils or despise them. Grayson Allen took the torch last year as the despised Duke star, and he has another year to troll opposing fans. The Blue Devils have enough t

Upsets

Unlike any other professional sport, an actual underdog has a chance to compete during the post-season. Whereas you have a good feeling who will be in the championship in other major sports, college basketball is a crapshoot. Last year, I predicted Michigan State to win it all, but they imploded against a 15-seed from Tennessee. Duke is the most talented team on paper right now, but look what happened to Kentucky two years ago...

Court storming

What better way to celebrate knocking off a good team than by celebrating with the players? Although there are valid concerns about player safety, I believe court storming should stay in college basketball. The adrenaline and passion from students as their school knocks off a top team is and incredibly unifying feeling.

March Madness

When March Madness rolls around, a conflict always rolls around. Do you cheer for your bracket or for the upset while watching games? Every year, college basketball fans pray for upsets - as long as their school/ team is not suffering a humiliating defeat.

Fantastic Freshmen

Every year, a new crop of freshmen take college basketball by storm before hitting the NBA. Whether it was Ben Simmons last year, or Kevin Durant back in 2007, freshmen players seem to be the most exciting of the classes. This year, UCLA’s Lonzo Ball and Washington’s Markelle Fultz are two spectacular freshmen who could put up some spectacular highlights this season.

Super teams

As much as I hate Duke, they have so much talent this year, it would be foolish for me not to tune in. Duke, Kansas and Kentucky are must-see T.V. as they are loaded with potential NBA players. As an Arizona fan, I am tuning in to their games, but I will definitely clear my schedule for other teams.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
