15 Reasons To Keep Going When The World Feels Like Too Much

In This Article:

The world can be a pretty bleak place, and whether you're dealing with internal or external factors, sometimes it feels like things will never get better. When you're in this mindset, it can be easy to go to a dark place where you feel like giving up. However, the world isn't all bad. For all the negative things out there, there are also just as many rainbows, puppies, chocolate bars, and good friends.

Of course, though, when times are tough, it can be easy to forget those beautiful things about life. So to jog your memory and hopefully inspire an even more comprehensive list, here are fifteen amazing things to hold on for:

1. To see all of the movies that haven't come out yet

Toy Story 4, Captain Marvel, The Lion King Live Action, Wicked--there are some great movies already scheduled to be released and even more that haven't even been conceptualized yet.

2. To pet all the animals you haven't pet yet

All of the puppies, kitties, ferrets, pet rocks, etc. need YOUR love!

3. To enjoy your favorite warm drink in the fall/winter

Whether your choice is coffee, tea, hot chocolate, or a chai latte, the feeling of snuggling up with a warm drink when it's cold outside is hard to beat.

4. Hugs!

Whether from a stranger or a friend, hugs aren't something to miss out on

5. To learn new interesting things

The world is filled with information, and so much of it is right at our fingertips

6. To travel to places you've never seen before

7. The feeling of being outside in the fresh air with the sun on your skin

Connecting with the Earth and getting away from other responsibilities and troubles is a great way to remember all the good and beauty that there is in the world.

8. Laughing at (or telling!) a good joke

There's nothing like a good, wholehearted belly laugh

9. Seeing your favorite artist or band in concert

All I'm saying is that no one should die without seeing Beyonce in concert at least once

10. Discovering new music, books, TV shows, etc.

The world is filled with hidden gems just waiting to be found

11. Sales at your favorite stores

There's really no better feeling than a great deal on your favorite things

12. Foods that fill your stomach & your soul

Mac n' cheese, brownies, chips, pizza, and other mouthwatering delights.

13. The ability to help other people

Helping others is one of the most rewarding things you can do. You'll learn a lot about the world and yourself.

14. Curiosity about what's out there

Sometimes when we truly don't believe things will get better, it is enough to keep going simply out of curiosity of what may happen if we hang in there a little longer. Hope and determination can feel far out of reach when we're in a really low place, and curiosity can feel like an easier feeling to process.

15. The world needs you

It's as simple as that. You are an important part of this world, and your place in it is incredibly valuable. There are more mountains for you to move, people to inspire, and problems to conquer.

There is always a reason to hold on; tomorrow needs you. Whether it's the bigger things like being there for your friends and family or something as small as a cute dog picture, every reason to stay alive and keep thriving is important and valid. Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
