12 Halloween Costumes That Represent 2015

With Halloween fast approaching, nearly everyone is in search for the perfect costume. Although several tend to throw on cat ears and be "a cat" or throw on a football jersey and be an NFL athlete, everyone wants that perfectly clever and relevant, yet low-maintenance costume. Below are some great ideas that are easy to throw together and culturally relevant to the year 2015. Happy Halloween!

1. Donald Trump (obviously)

Supporters will dress up as him; haters will dress up as him. Either way, you’re going to see a lot of Donald Trumps walking around this Halloween, and it’s going to be terrifying.

What you’ll need: A blonde comb-over wig, a suit, an orange spray tan, and a smug look.

2. Left Shark

Yes, it’s been a while since the dance moves (if that’s what you want to call them) of the left shark appeared with Katy Perry on stage at the Superbowl, but the costumes are out and getting snatched up.

What you’ll need: The actual left shark suit (they can be found on Amazon). If you don’t have that, then don’t even bother.

3. 1D minus Zayn

Though the recent departure of Zayn from the famous boy band caused much upset this year, it makes for a great costume idea. Obviously, this costume only works for a group of four people, preferably guys. If you go as this, you will have girls taking pictures with you all night.

What you’ll need: sexy hair, astronaut suits, and not Zayn (sorry about it).

4. Taylor Swift and her "Bad Blood" posse

This is another group costume you’re probably going to see. You might look at this group of girls and think, “Are they trying to be Fifty Shades?” No, it’s T. Swift (badass style) and her group of butt-kicking celebs.

What you’ll need: leather lingerie, a lot of friends, problems you can’t solve, and explosives in the background as you strut down the street.

5. Hipster, featuring a man bun

These men are all around campuses across the nation and on the Internet, so you can easily find your inspiration. Man buns are a thing this year, so if you have long hair, embrace it.

What you’ll need: Long hair, a hair tie, clothes from Urban Outfitters, and style.

6. Frat boy, featuring the dad bod

You probably see these people wandering around college campuses too. They are typically preppy frat boys with an extra little flare about them; they are embracing the latest trend of having the “Dad Bod."

What you’ll need: A developing beer belly, pastel shorts, a visor, and Sperry's, duh!

7. Minions

They’re back again for another Halloween! Minions were popular last year and will continue their popularity this year because of the recent “Minions" movie that came out this past summer. There will be children, teens, and adults dressed as these little yellow dudes. You just can’t escape the minions.

What you’ll need: Originality, maybe? A new costume idea? If you’re really set on it, you'll need black goggles, overalls, and yellow clothes.

8. Caitlyn Jenner

Formerly known as Bruce Jenner, this lady and member of the Kardashian family was all over the news for the iconic sex change of the year. She was deemed a hero by many. The topic caused a lot of controversy in the news and still does. Though it might not be the best idea for a costume, many people are bound to give it a whirl.

What you need: A white one-piece lingerie/swimsuit, sash that says “Call me Caitlyn,” and an auburn-colored wig.

9. Tom Brady and his deflated balls

Who knew flat balls could cause this big of a problem? The Deflate Gate scandal caused the quarterback and The Patriots much backlash this year. For all the bros and sports lovers out there, here’s a costume idea for you.

What you’ll need: A Tom Brady jersey and deflated footballs…that should be simple enough.

10. #TheDress

Quite possibly the only dress in history to cause so much controversy, the black and blue vs. white and gold dress really represents how sad it is that this was actual news for weeks straight this year.

What you’ll need: A blue & black striped dress or a white & gold striped dress.

11. Jurassic World

This one movie provides several costume ideas: A dinosaur, Chris Pratt, aka the handsome raptor tamer, and the margarita man who made sure to save his drinks while the dinosaurs were attacking people. There’s a lot of inspiration throughout this movie for killer costume ideas.

What you’ll need for dinosaur: A dinosaur suit.

What you’ll need for Chris Pratt: A leather vest, a motorcycle, rugged sexiness, raptors.

What you’ll need to be margarita man: A Hawaiian shirt, a baseball cap, and, of course, margaritas.

12. "Game of Thrones"

People can’t shut up about this show. It’s no longer just a show, but a lifestyle for some. Last year, the TV series to watch was “The Walking Dead,” which is still extremely popular, and this year it’s “Game of Thrones.”

What you’ll need: A trip to the renaissance fair.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
