Almost everyone's been there. You're in a relationship, and everything is going perfectly. You couldn't be happier. Until it's not. When you go through a break up, you experience a whirlwind of emotions, and they probably stick around for a while. Getting over an ex is an emotional roller coaster, but it's just another part of life.
Stage 1: Crying. Lots of crying.
The break up hits you like a truck, and it feels like your entire world has just fallen to pieces. Crying is about all you know how to do right now.
Stage 2: Eating your feelings.
What better way to deal with the pain than by stuffing your face? Whether its ice cream, pizza, cookies, chocolate or just about anything else, food is always the answer.
Stage 3: Denial.
No, it totally didn't happen. We're totally still together. That was just a dream...right? Wrong.
Stage 4: Food and friends.
This is when your friends get involved. Any and all distractions are welcome, usually in the form of food and retail therapy.
Stage 5: Cuddling your stuffed animals.
You miss the intimacy and the comfort of having someone to cuddle with. Obviously. So who better to fill this void than your favorite stuffed animals? At least you know they'll never leave you.
Stage 6: Anger.
You're over the hurt. Now you're just mad. How could he do that to you? After everything you've been through together? Honestly, he's just the worst person ever. Ugh.
Stage 7: Coming to terms with it.
This is the stage when you can officially start telling people you're OK and meaning it. You're not totally over him, but you're making progress. And to you, that's all that matters.
Stage 8: Getting his memory out of your life.
His number? Deleted. Social media? Unfollowed. Pictures together? Gone. Basically every sign that he was ever in your life is gone, and you couldn't be happier about it.
Stage 9: Rebound.
Probably the most dangerous stage, beware of the rebound. You will want to talk to any and every hot guy you encounter, so go for it. But be careful, and don't do anything that you wouldn't want to do if this wasn't just a rebound.
Stage 10: Finally feeling fully happy again.
You've officially made it. You're over him, and not looking back. The feelings of hurt are all gone, and you're finally happy again.
