Why P!nk Should Be A More Appreciated Artist

You’ve heard her extremely catchy songs on the radio, but most of the time you’re probably just singing along because it’s what they’re playing at the time. But, being a fan of hers for many years (thanks for having good taste in music, mom) I can honestly tell you that she’s much more than her mainstream music you hear every day. So, here’s why you should give her more attention than the Kardashians.

1. She actually has talent and it's recognized by professionals.

She’s inspired so many artists, such as Demi Lovato, Adele, and Kelly Clarkson. She’s won 51 awards for her work and has been known as the “most trailblazing artist” of her generation. Her vocals are absolutely amazing and that’s not an exaggeration. If you’ve watched any of her performances you realize that not only can she sing but she’s a very entertaining performer. Her creativity and independence really adds to what makes her such a wonderful pop star.

2. She's real and doesn't allow that to change within her career.

Just take a quick look at her twitter page. I checked it just two seconds ago and she was supporting the ban on selling ivory in the United States and she called out an account for giving the Indigo Girls credit to writing one of her songs. A fan even called her out on only noticing the negative feedback she was getting from her tweet about Memorial Day. In this tweet @misschevious666 said “do you only reply to people who make you angry? I'm your UK number one fan who serves queen and country X”. Pink replied saying “Yes mostly! It’s a character flaw. But hi! Much love to you too!” It’s nice to have such a down to earth person in a world of fake tans and fake butts.

3. She's involved in so many charities.

Some of these charities include Human Rights Campaign, ONE campaign, Prince’s Trust, New York Restoration Project, Run for the Cure Foundation, Save the Children, Take Back the Night, UNICEF, and World Animal Protection. She’s also an advocate for the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Australia and she donated $250,000 to help the victims of the bush fires that struck Australia. Wow! A celebrity spending money to help others rather than supporting a luxurious lifestyle, how refreshing.

4. She's freaking gorgeous and why doesn't anyone talk about that?!

Do you know anyone else that can pull of as many crazy hairstyles as she’s had? There’s very few people that can look fabulous with these looks.

5. She doesn't form herself to what society would want her to be.

Following the rules is something that you would not find on her bucket list and that’s exactly why I admire her as an artist. With so many celebrities using sex appeal and changing what they believe in to fit a norm placed by society, it’s entirely amazing to see someone hold so true to their values. You’re an inspiration to me and so many of your other fans. Don’t ever stop being you.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
