Deciding where to go for college is one of the most important educational decisions a student has to make throughout their entire career. With thousands of universities to choose from, each student is allowed to choose one that fits them the best. The most important factor in deciding where to go for college is between an out of state college or an in state one. Growing up in the huge city of Los Angeles, I decided that I needed a break from it. Therefore, I went to a smaller college in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. However, becoming homesick is inevitable. Here are the things that I miss most about the City of Angels.
1. The Weather
California is known for its non-stop sunshine. No matter what the season, a Californian can expect a perfect 80 degrees with clear blue skies. However, this misconception can be deceiving. It does rain in California, just not enough to get this state out of a drought. But overall, California's near perfect weather is what makes this state a top vacation spot within the United States.
2. The Beaches
California is home to a beautiful coastline that houses some of the most amazing beaches in the country. Combined with the perfect weather, it's hard for anyone to resist these beaches. One of the most famous piers in the country is located in Los Angeles and draws a huge crowd of beach-goers every day, The Santa Monica Pier.
3. In-N-Out
This fast food chain was founded and is headquartered in California. Most of the chains are located in the pacific coast. A combination of their secret menu, secret sauce and mouthwatering burgers make this chain one of the most famous out of all the fast food restaurants in Los Angeles. A must try for all tourists who have never had it before.
4. Beautiful Scenery
Over time, residents of Los Angeles disregard how beautiful the city is and are quick to take it for granted. However, being away from the city for a long time makes you miss looking at the huge buildings that reflect the sunlight directly into your face. Perfect weather, palm trees everywhere, Tall buildings, what else could a person ask for?
5. Staples Center
The famous Staples Center is a multi-purpose arena that houses four professional sports teams. It is home to the Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers of the NBA, the Los Angeles Kings of the NHL, and the Los Angeles Sparks of the WNBA. It is located in Downtown Los Angeles, making it the central hub for all sporting events.
6. The Chance of Seeing a Celebrity
We all know that Los Angeles is home to a huge amount of celebrities. From athletes to rappers to famous actors, Los Angeles is filled with them. Now I'm not guaranteeing anything, but there is a reason why many paparazzi photos of famous celebrities are taken in L.A.
7. Universal Studios
The world famous Universal Studios is a family-friendly theme park filled with rides, food and great entertainment. Probably one of the most visited attraction parks in California, this park is home to dozens of movie-related rides including one from the Fast and Furious series, a Despicable Me Minions ride, a Jurassic Park ride, and a Transformers ride. (Just to list a few)
8. Citywalk

Citywalk is an extension of Universal Studios and is located right next to it. For those who do not purchase tickets to get into the theme park, Citywalk is a great alternative. It is a place for live entertainment, great dining, and plenty of stores for a shopping spree. It also contains a movie theater for those who wish to check out some new releases.
9. The 3rd Street Promenade
Located in Santa Monica, right next to the pier, the 3rd Street Promenade brings in a huge amount of shoppers and tourists together. This place is a congregation of different types of stores. From restaurants, to famous clothing stores and even two movie theaters, the Promenade has it all. During the winter time, employees even set up an ice skating rink for an additional form of entertainment.
10. Griffith Park Observatory
For those willing to make a hike to the top of Los Angeles, they are rewarded with an astonishing view of the entire city. Griffith Park allows for interaction with Los Angeles' wildlife, along with a great view. For those who love nature, wildlife, and mountainous terrain, Griffith Park is the way to go. This place also includes an observatory, for those who are more on the astronomy side.
11. The Different Types of Food
Los Angeles is a very multi-cultural city. With all different races living in one area, they all bring along a different taste of food. Los Angeles has it all, from Asian food to soul food to Hispanic food, you can find it all in this city. Whatever your taste buds desire, you will find it right here, in Los Angeles.
