Trump Is Making Nazis Great Again, Not America

Trump has given white nationalists both POWER and a PLATFORM on which to operate and spread their hate.

Trump Is Making Nazis Great Again, Not America

Don't downplay this. The first reaction of many people to reading this article will be to scoff it off. But this is nothing to scoff at. This is real.

What happened in Charlottesville should be a wake-up call to anyone still supporting Trump. It is a wake-up call for many Americans who insisted we lived in a 'post-racial America,' when we did not. Racism is alive and well folks, and we need to talk about it. We need to engage in discussion about these issues with our friends, especially our conservative ones.

We need to help each other understand that this world will not change for the better through hate or marginalization but through understanding and inclusion of those different from us. These racial divisions, fueled by white nationalist rhetoric are hurting people - KILLING people - and this needs to stop. I don't have quite the right words to voice my frustrations, nor do I have the solution to all these issues, but one thing I do know is that this country is not 'GREAT' nor will be under MAGA-chanting politicians and citizens.

The United States is getting weaker and weaker as our society is internally clashing over racial tensions and hateful, ignorant speech. The United States is becoming increasingly weaker in the eyes of the international community as the President continues to make a disastrous joke of the White House. Other nations cannot take us seriously nor engage in educated political discourse with a man so out of touch with reality. Let us, however, focus on the issue at hand: Charlottesville and the steady rise of white nationalism.

Don't forget, Trump enabled this. The rise White Nationalists and Neo-Nazis has only grown more and more since Trump has become president. I see nothing 'great' about the racial divides, violence, and political tensions that we have seen since Trump's campaign. What everyone needs to understand is that Trump has given POWER and PLATFORM to white nationalists to spread their hate. He has given them a louder voice, echoing their messages through his travel ban, anti-immigration/refugee policies, and refusal to condemn white nationalists.

Former KKK leader David Duke said on camera Saturday during the riots in Charlottesville that it "fulfills the promises of Donald Trump" - promises of a white America? A Neo-Nazi America? A hate-filled America? Make no mistake, Neo-Nazism is NOT 'Making America Great Again'. It is destroying the United States and the values we truly stand for. We are a country of immigrants, accepting of those from different ethnic, racial, socioeconomic, cultural, and religious backgrounds.

I would like to point out, for all of you out there that manage to come up with an excuse for every crazy thing that Trump says or does, that in the aftermath of CharlottesvilleTrump has failed us morally. He has refused time and time again to denounce white nationalists, even after a car plowed into a crowd of anti-racist and anti-fascist protesters, killing 32-year-old Heather Heyer and injuring 19 others. Trump instead chose to place the blame for violence on "many sides."

Dear Lord, this is not the time for you to try to take a political middle ground for once in your presidency, Trump. He is NOT campaigning to shut down and condemn his white nationalists support, as he should be. He is NOT speaking up enough for racial equality in America. Simply put, Trump is not doing enough. He is not an advocate for ALL Americans - just a select, privileged, white and male few.

Trump needs to make it a priority to speak out directly against white nationalists. Neo-Nazis hail him as their savior, believing he will bring them to power again. Trump needs to fight to against this, so that Neo-Nazism shall not become 'great again'.

We all need to stand up and show them that Neo-Nazism will NOT become apart of the American identity.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
