Top 10 Reasons Why You Are A Diehard Atlanta Falcons Fan
Baylie Fowler

I'm a huge Atlanta Falcons fan and have been since I could walk. My dad would dress me in any kind of Falcons attire he could find and that's how it all started. I truly am a diehard Falcons fan, I am going to represent my team and support them as well. I know I can't be the only diehard fan, so here is a list that may help you realize if you are one or not:

1. You hate how the media never talks about the team

Televised sports stations such as ESPN's SportsCenter and SportsNation and even NFL total access will almost never talk about the team. The stations almost always have the larger fan-based teams on debate. What I mean is that we have such a small fan base compared to teams such as the Patriots, Cowboys, and 49ers that we almost never sneak a headline. Falcon fans constantly plead with the media for publicity, especially when the team is doing well, but rarely ever do their pleas come true. All I am saying is that being a diehard fan who wants to see and hear the media talk publicly about their team, you must understand that you will fight an endless battle.

2. You truly do "die hard"

Understand that the Falcons have never won a Super Bowl and... have also only ever been to one. The Falcons are one of the oldest football teams in the NFL and have had a past full of some highlights and a substantial number of lows. If you are a diehard Falcons fan, all you want is to win and prove all the doubters wrong, because you have been loyal to this team since you came into this world, and all you could ever wish for is to see the team win one Super Bowl before you leave.

3. You absolutely hate the New Orleans Saints

Being in the NFC south along with the Saints, the team has to play the Saints twice each year. The games are nearly always tight and the match-up is one of the best rivalries in football. It's a rivalry that isn't only between the two teams, but between the masses of fans. During each team's home match-up against the other, the fans crowd into the dome and make some noise in order to throw off the home team. This makes the home fan base want to get even louder than the others to drown them out. They're loud and we want to be even louder.

4. Your Sundays are dedicated to Falcons football

Once preseason rolls around, we say goodbye to what we did on Sundays during the off season. Our Sundays are now for football and/or tailgating. This is what we look forward to the entire year, and once it is here we go all out. The time before the game is either used to get your stuff prepared for the tailgate or getting to the game so that you can get ahead of the crowds. No matter who we play, no matter the weather, no matter the time, Falcons fans are going to be there.

5. You're never quite as happy with the free-agency moves as you could be

Each year, it never seems to fail that the Falcons have a lot of holes to fill during the off season. Hundreds of free agents become available, but only a handful are worth the fortune they will be asking for. Even though we may have plenty of cap space, and a major need for such a player, the team will almost never make a push for the player. On the flip side, the player may have all the attributes and we may even make a push for him, but our location and publicity aren't quite what the player is looking for.

6. You're devastated that the Atlanta Falcons took away the retro uniforms

Something about that retro logo just screams out the classic, hard-nosed style of football that the true fans know and love. They recently stopped the throwback uniform games that happened once each year and ever since, the team hasn't been the same. Everything about the throwbacks just brought back an era when football was an intense, bare knuckles game that truly embraces what the NFL once was.

7. Somewhere deep down you wonder what could've been with Michael Vick

Taken first overall in the 2001 NFL draft, out of Virginia Tech, Mike Vick immediately made an impact at the quarterback position. He set all kinds of single game, single season, and career records for his position, all in the span of six seasons. Then Vick was found to be involved in an illegal interstate dog fighting ring that had operated for five years. Following his sentence, Vick was released by the Falcons at the age of 27. With so much football ahead of him, could he had lead the team to the promised land? Would he still be our quarterback today? Could he have been better than Matt Ryan is today? All we can do is wonder what might have been.

8. You absolutely love owner Arthur Blank

Arthur Blank has owned the Falcons for 15 years and has supported the team and Atlanta through its ups and downs. Arthur is the type of person you just can't help but love. During the fourth quarter of tight games, he is always on the field with the team. He also comes down on the field before games and talks with the team and coaches. He is the type of owner that just fits with Atlanta.

9. You embrace "Rise Up"

Some how this motto, especially when Samuel L. Jackson performs his rant on the big screen, gets you pumped for some Falcons football. The video is very powerful, especially because it clasps on to that Atlanta spirit. The city, the team, the landmarks, and most importantly the fans are all broadcast through this simple sound off.

10. You represent the team no matter what time of year it is

This means you could be at Christmas dinner and you would still have something either red and black or Falcons on. It doesn't matter what time of year it is, you're going to support your team. During the off-season, preseason, and especially during the regular season, the Falcons are your team, and no matter if the season was/is going great or we're struggling, that red and black will be worn.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
