On October 22nd, the Chicago Cubs ended a 71 year World Series drought. On November 2nd, the Cubs did something monumental. The longest championship drought in all of sports came to an end. On November 2nd 2016, the Chicago Cubs once again became World Series champions!!! The Cubs finally broke the dreaded 108 year streak, and they did it in dramatic fashion wining game 7 in extra innings. With this World Series win the Cubs not only broke a streak that so badly needed to be broken, but they made dreams come true. Generations of fans have watched the Cubs play since they last won the World Series. Generations of die hard fans that came back every year with the belief that, " This is the year". I still get the chills even just writing it but this really was the year. It was dream come true. I got to watch the Cubs win it all. It didn't feel real when they first won. Watching all the players run out on to the field celebrating, putting on the championship hats and shirts, the champagne party in the club house, and the trophy presentation. It just didn't feel real. It was when I laid down to go to bed was when it really began to sink in, THE CUBS ARE WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS. It really was a dream come true not only for me, but for every single cubs fan to ever root on this amazing team. This championship means so much to the city of Chicago, to the Cubs organization, and most importantly to the fans. With this win, it became apparent how much the Cubs really mean to the fans. As my family and I jumped and screamed for joy in the living room when the cubs won I noticed the first thing my dad did was call his dad, and my mom call her brother. Fans were crying tears of joy on television, Wrigleyville was jam packed with fans celebrating. These celebrations carried over to the next couple days as well. 5 million fans flooded the streets of down town Chicago for the celebration of the Cubs World Series win. After all of this, one could see what the Cubs really mean to this city and their fans. The passion and love for the team was put on display for everyone to see. Everyone was able to see that this victory and this title meant the world to the fans. The Country was able to see that the city of Chicago and Cubs fans every have had a dream for about 108 years. A dream of a World Series championship being won by our Cubbies. The country was able to see our dream come true. The waiting and the agony and the "curse", it was all over. There is no more next year, this was the year. I still get the chills and surges of happiness when I hear these words. The Chicago Cubs are the 2016 World Series Champions!!
