Tail Wagging Benefits Of Pet Ownership

Have you ever thought about owning a pet but wondered what they could do for you? Well, look no further than this article to find out the benefits of pet ownership. Pet ownership, no matter what type of animal you own, brings a wide variety of benefits. Here's a list of the top five benefits of pet ownership.

1. More fur cuddling = fewer allergies

Yes, you read that right. More fur cuddling equals fewer allergies. In a series of studies conducted by the University of Minnesota - Madison, pediatrician James E. Green, it was found that the likelihood of child pet owners developing allergies were lowered by as much as 33 percent. Plus, as an added bonus, the children also developed stronger immune systems.

2. Pets = Best Ice Breaker Ever

How many times have you stopped to pet a dog on the street or awwed at a cat on the Internet? So many times. And how many times did a conversation get started just by you stopping to love someone else's animal? A ton of times. So needless to say, having a pet is a great way to meet new people.

3. Pets are a heart healthy option.

Several studies show that owning pets helps reduce blood pressure and lower cholesterol and triglyceride levels. The benefits of those actions include a minimized risk of heart attack. Pretty awesome, huh?

4. Instant Exercise Partner Coming Right Up

I am sure by now, you have all seen the above video of animals trying to help their humans do yoga, but who can resist watching it again? Having a pet is a great way to kick-start your exercise plan and help you stick to it. And an added benefit of exercising more is that pet owners are less likely to be obese than people who don't have pets.

5. Unconditional Love

What better way to combat loneliness and depression than to have a loving furbaby run around your house. Numerous studies have shown that having a pet reduces depression, stress, and anxiety in all age groups. That is what makes pets great therapy animals. Plus, that little wagging tail is bound to chase the blues away. Am I right or am I right?

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
