Just to clarify before I begin, I am not talking about my "Big" sister in my sorority (although I love you and happy birthday). I am talking about my older sibling, my full-blood sister whom I would not survive without. I'm not only thanking you, I am also apologizing to you. Being a sister is more than what meets the eye. We don't get to pick our siblings. You, as the older one, didn't get to decide what kind of new little baby waltzed into your family, sucking all of the attention, crying louder than you, and always getting what I wanted. Luckily, you've made the most of it and we have achieved way more than a relationship; we've established a friendship.
Little sisters make life hard for you big sisters. We nag at you to help us with things, we beg you to cover for us, we ask for advice (and all of the details), we ask to hang out with you and your friends, and more than enough, we get on your nerves. I will first say to you, big sis, I'm sorry. I'm sorry for everything I just listed above and more. I'm sorry that this will recur in the future and I may continue to steal your thunder. Yes, stealing your thunder is something I have gotten good at. I know how to say the right things to get my way and I apologize for the many times I have overturned your opportunities to be right. However, I must also thank you for dealing with it, knowing that you may not always win the fight, but will win the war.
Through the ups and downs, we still have each other's backs. With everything that's happened, we love each other when we could easily hate each other. I know that you will always pick my side and I will pick yours. We don't let anyone test the dynamic duo, and if they do, we aren't afraid to throw a punch or two. We are the only ones who can test each other. I am the only one who can make fun of your dance moves and you are the only one who can make fun of my bad hair days.
I love you so much and thank you for being so loving, protective, supportive, so sincere, reliable, trustworthy, and so much more than I will ever be. Thanks for laughing at my jokes and dancing to "Come On Eileen" with me. I love you, even if I don't say it enough. I love you to the moon and back.
