I Wish I Never Rooted For Boston Sports Teams

Being a Boston fan stinks.

Call me ungrateful, but I wish I wasn’t a Boston sports fan. Now, you’re obviously asking how I could regret rooting for a city that’s had 10 championships since 2000 (including the 2016 Patriots Super bowl), but honestly it’s a burden. It’s almost like there are too many parades to get to and too many teams to watch dominate on a regular basis. Remember that time Donald Trump predicted that “We will have so much winning if I get elected, that you may get bored with winning?” He was clearly talking about the Patriots, Red Sox, Bruins and the Celtics. It’s exhausting to consistently deal with all of these expectations to win big every single season. Take the Patriots right now, for example. We went into the season expecting them to go 19-0. Literally a single loss and the season is a failure. I’d love just once to have the ability to sit back and enjoy the season without dealing with these stupid expectations. Honestly, just plain old winning like Boston stinks because:

I can’t enjoy other teams anymore.

The Patriots ruined football for me. When you’re watching the Patriots every week, you’re used to a certain quality of play. The greatest quarterback ever always hit his targets, players make their tackles, and literally every single undrafted rookie that Coach Bill Belichick signs becomes a stud. Then every single Sunday, I watch some other team and it’s nowhere near as nice. Take the Denver Broncos, the supposed class of the AFC. Sure they have some solid defense but the quarterback is subpar. I could go through every single team and none of them are nearly as perfect as the Patriots. It’s brutal to see a sport I love get dragged through the mud by OK performances.

So Many Haters.

#FREEBRADY. I’ve spent my entire summer dealing with haters attacking the New England Patriots. Granted it wasn’t difficult defending a team that did nothing wrong and was brutally harassed by a totalitarian commissioner, but it still was difficult to see so many people come after my team. Life really is so tough at the top.

Parades get Boring.

Look at those fans! They just look so happy. Watching the Kansas City Royals win their first title of the generation was actually good for me as a Boston guy. Sure, it stinks that the Red Sox didn’t have a good year and generally stunk all around. However, I was honestly happy for those fans. It’s always nice to see someone actually gain some happiness from a championship parade. Don’t get me wrong, parades are a blast. It’s impossible to not have fun at them. That being said, after nine, parades get a tiny bit boring. You know the worst part? There’s no sign of them stopping anytime soon. The Patriots are still dominating, the Sox are always in contention and the Bruins and Celtics are not far away from a title either. It literally never stops for us. I don’t know how I’ll ever recover.

It’s so difficult to be a Boston sports fan, but somebody needs to do it and I don’t see anyone else volunteering, so I guess I’ll stick with picking up title after title in Titletown, USA.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
