Here it is -- the other aspect of March we look forward to besides St. Paddy’s day -- March Madness. Whether you are a college basketball fan or not, millions of Americans young and old will be found filling out their brackets. Why is that? Well, many of us are true basketball fans at heart while others are filling out brackets based on what team has the nicer jerseys. Whatever your reason, it tends to be the person with no prior knowledge who takes home the big bucks. Here are some aspects that may influence you in your decision while filling out your bracket…
Ranking
Some may chose to go with the number one ranked team because they trust the stats, but as most of us know things can change in this tournament very quickly. Trust your instincts, not someone else’s.
The Undefeated Team
A streak is a streak and if you want to put your faith in the chance that the streak will continue "you do you", but just remember eventually all good things must come to an end. This year Kansas's streak may be worth paying attention to.
Roots
Many of us would love to bet on our own school's success in the tournament, but as college students we are "ballin' on a budget" (well at least I know I am) and little extra cash could go along way. With that said, I do applaud those loyal fans, but I am going with my gut.
Ballin' Babes
For those who are out of the basketball loop, some have chosen to go with the most attractive team. Am I condoning this strategy? Absolutely not, however for those who base their decisions off the players' looks rather than their talent, they are not at a total loss. I guess following a team full of eye candy can't be the worse thing that you could chose to do.

Reputation
Even if you don't follow college basketball, there are certain teams that have reputations for making it far in the tournament every year. Therefore, it is difficult to overlook these teams when stacking them up against others. Yet, underdogs do exists and big name teams like Duke or Kentucky do not allows come out on top.
Uniforms
Once again looks are not a factor in performance, but for those inexperienced fans, a team with a great uniform can make a statement. If you want to be a winner, you have to dress like one. Some teams show up decked out in the latest new gear, while others rock the hammy downs. If blue is your color and orange makes you look like a pumpkin, say goodbye to Syracuse and get ready to start cheering for Duke.
Long Term Vision
There are several factors that will affect a team's success. Injuries and such play a huge role in a team's performance. Once a key player is out the entire dynamic of a team changes.
With that said, good luck -- it's March Madness time! And be sure to watch Villanova play Miami this Thursday at 7:10 p.m. Follow along on Twitter with the hashtag #Odyssey Sports!
