Well, it looks like you made it to the big two-oh, and I couldn't be more proud of you (for surviving teenage pregnancy, that is). But in all seriousness, you never cease to amaze me. Thank you for taking little sophomore me under your wing in high school; it's really all a blur after that. The lessons I've learned from you are too many to count, ranging all the way from how to write a college application essay to where best spots to go out in DC are. I am confident when I say you are one of the main people that helped get me to where I am today.
One of my friends once said about you, "Wow, a girl who's smart, funny, pretty, super nice, and good at sports...that's amazing." I can't think of a better way to describe you. The fact that you come to me for advice never fails to weird me out because I am supposed to be the one who doesn't have my life together (make sure you keep asking--it boosts my ego).
Thank you for cooking for me, encouraging my addiction to donuts, and taking care of me when I'm sick. You have made DC truly feel like my home away from home, and for that I am so grateful. I am always proud to say that I have known you since high school so everyone can be jealous that I am your day one. You are too many roles in my life to count: my sister, best friend, mom, and partner in crime are just a few of the main ones.
You have accomplished so much in your 20 years. You crossed the pond, became a celebrity in high school and college, ran the field as a lacrosse star, and have managed to make everyone who meets you feel honored to be in your presence. I can only hope I become half the woman you are, and I am so excited to get to watch you continue to grow and flourish.
I hope this letter doesn't make you too cocky. Congrats on surviving the teenage years and here's to many more to come. Thanks for being the best role model on the planet.
xoxo
