The fall semester has started and students everywhere are forced to come to the realization that schoolwork is going to pile up soon. If you are anything like me, starting school again means heavy backpacks and the sad realization that summer is over. But if you are lucky enough to go to Florida State, you are graced with a beautiful campus that has many spots which make studying a lot more enjoyable.
Here are five spots on campus that I find help me focus:
1. The patio of the Starbucks on Woodward
If you are a fan of some light noise, but the first floor of Strozier still gives you anxiety, this is a perfect medium. I prefer the side patio because it has more sunlight. This is like the center of campus and a great place to enjoy all that campus has to offer. If you get distracted easily though, this might be a little too much.
2. The Memorial for students who have passed away
Okay yes, this sounds incredibly morbid. But this memorial is a beautiful little fountain with flowers and benches. It is quiet, and almost never populated. It is conveniently located near Dunkin Donuts, perfect for your coffee addiction. It is also right next to the College of Music so you will probably hear some brain music to get those juices flowing. The best part of this spot is that it is next to a mini green field, so it’s like studying on Landis without all of the noise and movement.
3. The Dirac Library Cubicles
I personally prefer to study outside, but on days when its raining or way too hot (so basically everyday), I study in the cubicles on the second floor of Dirac. These allow you have your own space, put some headphones in and you are in your own little world. Unfortunately finding a free cubicle is about as hard as finding a parking spot in Woodward, so patience is key.
4. The Starbucks in Strozier
If you are more of a social studier, this is the spot for you. There are a couple booths in the Starbucks that help you focus, but it is also where everyone goes to get coffee. You are bound to see someone you know, so if you can study in a social setting you'll be golden. They call it Club Stroz for a reason
5. The Goldstein Library
This library is not widely populated so it is perfect if you need to be secluded while you study. It is in a convenient spot on campus, across Landis Green from Strozier. If you are looking for the traditional library feeling without all the people, try out this spot.
