Dear New England Patriots,
I am a Broncos Fan. A HUGE Broncos fan. Every since I can remember, I bled orange and blue. For much of my life, you were the dominant team. And for many years, we never stood a chance. Our yearly match ups brought panic attacks and anxiety to the Rocky Mountains. Awhile ago, we met again for our annual match up. This time, it was different. Peyton Manning was out with a foot injury. We would be relying on our second string quarterback, Brock Osweiler. This would be Brock’s second NFL start, so we were all more than nervous. Could he pull this off? Is there any way we can beat the undefeated?
I can tell you are a little upset about the loss. Your undefeated streak went down the drain despite your 21-7 lead in the fourth quarter. Yes, the weather conditions were not great. The refs were not your biggest advocates. Regardless, you still lost.
I was in shock. Did I actually just watch that? Did the Broncos just pull off an overtime win? I was absolutely ecstatic to finally beat the Patriots. You have all claimed that it’s embarrassing that this win attracted so much attention. Well, honestly, I don’t care what you say. It’s more than just the fact that we beat the undefeated team. This win was so satisfying for me, because I really dislike the Patriots. I don’t dislike the Patriots because they are a dominant team. I dislike the Patriots because of their sketchy operations and ridiculous fan base.
The Fan Base
The Patriot’s fan base is absolutely absurd. It is full of bandwagon fans from all around the United States for the sole reason that they are a winning team. Oh, doesn’t it feel good to win. Yes, I love the years that the Broncos dominate their opponents. But I also have been through years of very sub par teams. Let’s go back to the years 2006 through 2010. The Broncos went through a four year playoff drought, finishing 9-7, 7-9, 8-8, and 4-12. Yikes. As depressing as it was to watch the Broncos struggle through those years, I always sat down to watch at least some portion of the game. Yes, there are definitely some bandwagon Broncos fans, especially recently because of Peyton Manning, but I believe the Broncos have a larger amount of true fans. For example, Barrel Man. He would go to every single Broncos game only wearing a Barrel and cowboy boots. It wouldn’t matter if it was two degrees and snowing. He was always there.
Josh McDaniels
His childlike appearance makes him look so innocent when, in reality, he is a lying, cheating scumbag. Josh McDaniels began his career at the Patriots in 2001 as a personnel assistant and eventually climbed the ladder to offensive coordinator in 2006. By 2009, Josh McDaniels left the Patriots to become the head coach of the Denver Broncos. While with the Broncos, Josh McDaniels was fined $50,000 for taping the 49ers’ pre-game walk through. The man behind the camera was Steve Scarnecchia, formerly involved with the Spygate I incident with the Patriots in 2007. Is it a coincidence that in 2007, Josh McDaniels also was involved with Scarnecchia in Spygate I? I think not.
Cheater Cheater Pumpkin Eater continued…
In 2007, the Patriots were caught video taping the New York Jets’ defensive coaches signals from an unauthorized location. Bill Belichick (head coach) was fined $500,000, the team $250,000, and revoked a first round selection in 2008 for the incident.
Seven years later, just months after a super bowl victory, the Patriots were accused of deflating the game ball. Tom Brady (quarterback) was originally suspended from the first four games of the upcoming season for playing a role in Deflategate. This ruling was eventually revoked because there was not enough conclusive evidence to convict Brady as guilty. Yes, the evidence (text messages between the person who deflated the ball and Tom Brady) suddenly disappeared. The phone was somehow destroyed. Hmm… Sounds kind of odd to me.
At the end of the day, I don’t care how many games the Broncos win or lose. I am glad to be supporting a team that represents good morale and values.
To the Patriots: Good luck, and may the odds be ever in your favor. See you in playoffs.
