Makenzie Keely

As a Fashion Merchandise major, my ultimate goal is to work for a fashion magazine. In high school, I was a senior editor on my yearbook staff. As I was entering college, I thought I wanted to take a break from journalism, however, I have missed it dearly. I absolutely love photography and I truly miss being able to capture students in their respective environments. During my time on the yearbook staff, I won two Colorado Yearbook state awards for best photo for 2A schools. I would love to work for the Odyssey because I can see the vast opportunities it could provide me, wether it be through interviewing various people or writing articles that could grab the attention of a whole community. My parents have tried to dissuade me from pursuing journalism because they think it is a dying art. The Odyssey is proof that journalism is not dying because it is currently one of the fastest growing digital media properties of all time. I would be incredibly honored to work for such an amazing company and in doing so, I will hopefully impact the world while pursuing the field I love.
