Personally, I don’t watch the Super Bowl. I like the food and the beer, but I don’t care much for the actual sport. I never grasped the concept, I guess. I don’t know what is so enjoyable about watching someone throw a ball, run and then showboat. I’ve been to Super Bowl parties where everyone yells or turns over a table when the wrong team doesn’t get a touchdown. I don’t understand the emotions felt during such a time, but it happens. I’ve even seen people cry over the winning team. To me, it is a little annoying and even tiresome which is why I don’t find it very interesting. I do, however, think it is interesting how people determine who their favorite team is throughout the football season.
Some people pull for certain teams just so the team they absolutely hate won’t win that game. Others genuinely study football and pull for the team that will help them win the bet they just placed the night before. Or maybe there is a certain quarterback that you like and that is why you pull for that team. Most of the fans of the Carolina Panthers are only fans because they are from North Carolina. I hate to disappoint you all, but I highly dislike the Panthers. It’s a personal dislike I have, I won’t go into details, though. I do have a preferred team, the Raiders, but I don’t actually watch them when they play.
Some people have told me that they’re fans of the Panthers for no particular reason. Several people are fans merely because Cam Newton is on the team. Why he is worshiped so much is a mystery to me, I have seen no kind of behavior from him that would make me want to be a fan of his. So for all you little kitty cat fans out there, congratulations they’re in the Super Bowl. This year, while I will not be watching the game, I will be pulling for the Denver Broncos to win. As I stated earlier, I’m mainly excited for the food and beer.
Traditionally, everyone likes to have Buffalo wings, varieties of dips, different flavors of chips, potato skins and then the odd vegetables so we don’t feel too guilty about everything we’ve just eaten. There never seems to be many dessert options. A lot of people cook for their parties, but you do have some people who go out to watch the game. Sports bars receive the most customers during any kind of game or MMA fight they are showing on their televisions. Buffalo Wild Wings, Chili’s and several burger joints will probably have some sort of special going on the day of the Super Bowl to draw more people in for good food and entertainment.
Let's not forget about the halftime show and the commercials! I don't know who is performing this year, but I'm sure it will be someone who won't be wearing a lot of clothing. The commercials are probably the best part of the game! They show really sad and really funny commercials that we will see for the next few months. The one commercial that will be forever remembered is the "WASSUP" commercial. I remember seeing it when I was little and I thought it was the most hilarious commercial ever made. People today still reference it!
I have to admit, the Super Bowl can bring families together. It’s supposed to be a fun time for friends and families. The game reminds me a lot of Thanksgiving because there is always a football game on during Thanksgiving. Except, this time, you just have appetizers and alcohol.
