Dear Mommy,
First I just want to let you know leaving you is always the hardest part about going back to school, but I’ve been away at school almost two weeks and I already miss you like crazy. I guess that's what happens when your mom is the most important person in your life.
We have been through a lot over the past eighteen years together. There have been ups and definitely some downs. I can honestly say the reason we all got through those downs was because of you and your admirable strength.
You are the glue that holds our entire family together I don’t know how you do it, but you do it with grace. I can’t express how blessed I am to be able to call you mom.
But you're not just my mom—you're my best friend, my motivation, my rock and my everything. I honestly don’t know where I would be without you—it actually scares me to think about it. The lessons I’ve learned from you are endless.
I learned what perseverance is from you. I learned that true beauty comes from the inside from you (but my momma’s still got it). You taught me how to get back on my feet when life knocks me down.
I used to think of myself as a strong person, but I realize now I am as strong as I am because of you. You are my strength. I know I can come to you for anything and you will always be there to listen to me laugh, cry or even scream. That’s not to say sometimes we don’t get on each other's nerves because we both know we do. But even when I’m being the most annoying person ever, you never leave my side and I thank and applaud you for that.
Disappointing you is one of the most painful things, but I do it anyway because I’m a teenager and I am going to make mistakes. Even through the scolding, you still manage to tell me you love me, no matter what. Sometimes I just can’t fathom how you do it all.
I mean you’ve been there all eighteen years—every gymnastics meet (you were always my number one fan), every school orchestra concert, every elementary school field trip, every dance recital, I mean, the list can go on forever.
I don’t thank you enough for all the sacrifices you have made for my sisters and me. I just want you to know I appreciate everything you did and still continue to do for me.
I really don’t know why I got lucky enough to have the best mom in the world, but I am so grateful for you. You are the best role model a girl could ask for. I can only hope that one day I can be half the mom that you are, because I've got some big shoes to fill. I love you to the moon and back again, Momma. You are my hero.
Love Always,
Your Baby Girl
