An Open Letter To My Amazing Siblings
Angela Nelson

To my amazing siblings,

When it comes to families, you guys are the best. Growing up with you guys right beside me made me who I am today, and for that, I am eternally grateful. Honestly, you guys are just my favorite people in the world. God knew what he was doing when he made us siblings. We may be crazy, we may not always get along, but we are family, and we are always there for each other.

Where would I be without you guys? You are my biggest supporters, and have been my best friends from the minute we met. No matter what we do, or where we are, you guys have my back. When I have a bad day, or just need someone to lean on, you guys are there. You laugh with me, you cry with me, and you do stupid things with me. You're my partners in crime, and are always trying to get me into trouble. Even though you pick on me, tease me, and give me weird nicknames, I wouldn't have it any other way. You guys are my people. I need you.

To my older siblings. You guys have taught me right from wrong. I've watched you make mistakes, and in turn, I have learned. You have helped me learn, through your experiences, how to be strong. How to be compassionate. On the other hand, I have watched you succeed in the things you have done before me. Because of that, I work hard in everything I do. After all, I have some pretty impressive shoes to fill. You guys are my role models. The ones I look up to and the ones I want to be. You guys are my heroes, and I love you so much.

For my younger siblings, you guys have taught me to take charge. You were my first "followers," you could say. You taught me how to be a leader, and to take control of my decisions. You were always willing to play and talk. Always wanting to learn something new. You taught me to be confident. Even though having people follow you around all day can be exhausting and tiring, hearing that you just wanted to be with your big sister brought the biggest smile to my face, and to my heart. I wouldn't change having you guys as my younger siblings for the world.

To my sisters, thank you for being my second, third, and fourth closets. I pity those who don't have sisters they can share their clothes with. It's honestly life changing. You guys keep me up to date with the current fashions, and aren't afraid to tell me if I look stupid. You guys are the real MVP's for that. Seriously. With out you, I may go out in something I would sincerely regret 10 years down the road.

To my brothers, you guys are my constant source of laughter. You always know what it takes to make a smile break out. Honestly, without you, I would have no idea how any sports work. I probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a touch down and a home run. Or the difference between a quarterback and a running-back. Even though I don't always seem the most into your sports pep talks, I love the bonding that takes place when we get the chance to talk about it.

In the end, you guys are seriously the bomb.com. Thank you for all of the dance parties, the crazy car rides, the countless stupid pictures, and everything else you have done to make this life amazing. You guys are my rocks. The ones that are holding me steady.

Much love, my friends. Much love.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
