To the greatest fans in the NFL,
One of the hardest things in the world to do, but at the same time the easiest, is being a Buffalo Bills fan. Even through all of the heartbreak we have suffered over the years, losing four straight Super Bowls, and missing the playoffs for fifteen straight years and counting, being a Bills fan is still awesome.
To be a Bills fan is like being in a ginormous family. If you ever see somebody wearing any apparel you know that you can start an hour long conversation with them about anything Buffalo Bills. No matter where you are, a Bills fan is a fan, usually a die hard that knows all about the history of the team no matter how young or old they are.
The Buffalo Bills not only have the greatest fan base in all of the NFL, but also have the greatest tailgate in the NFL. There are an infinite amount of parking lots and lawns to do your tailgating in. On any given game day you'll see grills fired up on top of peoples trucks, ketchup being squirted all over Pinto Ron Kenny for his burger, dizzy bat and then attempt to kick the Tom Brady doll over, and the new phenom, which is jumping off the top of a truck, bus, or RV and landing on a table to split it in half. The atmosphere in Buffalo on game day is pretty much the greatest thing in the world!
And, of course, during the game we are some of the loudest fans in the NFL. Even though we have a much smaller stadium than most NFL teams we make up for it by having the greatest fans. The stadium is always sold out, crazy loud, and Buffalo Elvis can always be found with his guitar sitting in the endzone amongst other crazy fans!
After every touchdown or field goal, we all sing and shout at the top of our lungs. We cause so many false starts and delay of games on the other team because we are so loud and you can barely talk to the person that is sitting next to you. In the nosebleed section, a drunk fan can be found taking a tumble down the bleachers at any given point in the game. And if we are given free posters as we walk in the stadium, you can be sure they will be folded into paper airplanes and thrown all around the stadium in attempts to land one on the field.
Our alumni players are, in my opinion, the greatest alumni players in the league. What I mean by this is they are still really close to the team, can always be found at the stadium on game day or at training camp on practice days. They support the team no matter what and are a huge part of our football family. And the fans come to their aid in their time of need.
When Jim Kelley was diagnosed with cancer and nearly on his deathbed, all of the fans rallied together to pray for him and send him all of their well wishes to him and his family. When he made a full recovery he was welcomed in Buffalo with open arms and he is now at the stadium on most game days throughout the season!
So Bills fans, even though it can be incredibly discouraging to be a fan at times and the Bills will almost always let you down, keep cheering, and keep circling the wagons because there is always hope and we will all always have hope!
Being a Bills fan is one of the greatest things ever and we are the ones who make the players love playing for our team. No matter what happens to the team or in your life one thing that we must always remember and never forget is, GO BILLS!
