It happens to all of us. No matter how great our classes, jobs or relationships are, every now and then we just get in that rut. The "tired of doing the same things everyday" rut. It takes a lot of time and doing the same things every day to get us to this rut, but it doesn't take much to get out of it. So, for the times when you just can't seem to shake the feeling that your life is just a circle of motions that you follow each day, I've put a list together of ten things that will brighten your mood and make you feel like a brand new you:

1. Buy a new pair of jeans.

Find one of those majestic pairs of jeans that makes you feel like you're in a music video. Wearing new jeans that compliment your body will always make you feel like a million bucks.

2. Go out to eat at your favorite restaurant.

Good food and a good mood go hand-in-hand. One night at your favorite place with your favorite people will always leave you in a great mood.

3. Go to an exercise class.

It's a proven fact that exercising causes positive endorphins in our brain to release and also aids in our sleep. So even if you aren't a zumba star or yoga fanatic, taking small steps and enrolling in just one class will improve your health and happiness!

4. Start a new Netflix series.

Although watching "Friends" sixteen times never gets old, starting a new series you've never seen will give you excitement each week and a new story to follow and be inspired by.

5. Get a pedicure.

Not a scientifically proven fact- but definitely Madison proven- one pedicure will make your whole week! Nothing like a brand new set of feet to perk you up!!!

6. Get a new hairstyle.

Step out of your comfort zone and try a dramatic new haircut or color. A new hairstyle is almost guaranteed to make you feel beautiful on the outside which will shine from your inside.

7. Volunteer.

Whether at an animal shelter or soup kitchen, volunteering to help others will probably help yourself more. Volunteering is a great way to get inspired and humble, and will always leave you grateful.

No matter what the issue, if you find yourself in a rut, there are always several ways to add some exciting and uplifting twists into your daily routines. Instead of feeling down, try watching a new series, working out or playing with some animals. Your health and attitude will definitely benefit.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
