Some girls grow up playing with Barbie dolls, playing dress-up, and trying on all of their mom's make up. Other girls had a soccer ball in their crib, built pillow forts, and had water gun fights. I am one of the second types of girls, and if you are too, then you are probably a Daddy's girl. Here is how you know.
1. You grew up watching sports. While you were always his little princess, you preferred to stay up past your bedtime watching whatever football or basketball game was on with him, rather than watch Disney movies.
2. Obviously, you like all of his favorite sports teams. He likes the Redskins? You like the Redskins. He likes the Orioles? You like the Orioles. What fun would watching teams play be if you weren't cheering together?
3. You can drive a stick shift car. You drive an automatic, but your dad has been teaching you to drive stick shift, so one day you, too, will drive a manual car.
4. You call him every single day. If you are having a bad day, you call him to cheer you up. If you are having a good day, you call him to tell him why. Sometimes, you don't have anything at all to tell him, you just felt like saying hi.
5. You tell him everything, because he's been there. Whether you are upset or confused about a guy, you go to him for advice first. He was once a fraternity guy, and can tell you how they think and what their actions mean, since he acted that same way back in the day.
6. He is always honest with you. Sometimes the truth hurts, but you can always count on him to tell you when you are being crappy, and when you should apologize for whatever you have done.
7. You actually like beer. He always tells the story of how one of your first words was “booze" and how he let you try a few sips when you were six years old. Unfortunately, you were brought up to enjoy Lambic Ales, Gueuze Ales, and Indian Pale Ales, so a typical Natty Light doesn't come close to par.
8. He will do pretty much anything for you. He was the only person willing to fly to your school, only to have you pick him up from the airport and drive straight back home, so you wouldn't have to drive the 13 hours by yourself.
9. You have certain shows that you watch together, and watching them with anyone else just wouldn't be the same. Let's face it, Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones are both great shows, but they can be a little violent. Even at twenty years old you have to cuddle with your dad during all the scary parts.
10. Your best friends are pretty much his daughters, too. He always asks how they are doing, because he cares about them as if they are his own. When they come over, you always invite him to hang out with you, because you know they love him, too.
11. He is the only boy that gets you flowers. There is no shame in this. He gets you flowers for Valentine's Day, your birthday, and any other special occasion, so you never have to worry about feeling alone.
12. You have plans to travel the world with him. Australia, New Zealand, Greece, Portugal, Ireland, Thailand -- you name it, you would love to go there with him.
13. You got your sense of humor from him. The same things make you laugh. You can send him a text, a screenshot, or a link and you know what his reaction will be before he even responds.
14. After reading this list, you realize he truly is your best friend. You are more comfortable being yourself around him than anyone else. He brings out the best in you and you know that, no matter what, he will always be there for you.
