Liberty University is a very special place, but you know, it's not for everyone. Here are some reasons it just may not be for you.
1. You Don't Like Challenging Classes.
If you don't like classes pushing you to be the best that you can possibly be and getting you ready for an exciting career, then Liberty isn't for you. Liberty is known for it's awesome nursing program, journalism degrees, and pastoral programs, but I mean if you don't want a top notch degree... you can always go somewhere else.
2. You Despise Being Early, Being Loud, And Wearing Red.
Liberty students are all about showing their school spirit in as many ways as possible. At every sporting event, the stands are packed with students who tailgated overnight, wearing Liberty red, and who are cheering for their flames like there's no tomorrow.
3. You Hate Free T-Shirts
If you don't like free stuff, don't attend Liberty. There's always someone giving something away.
4. If You Don't Like Knowing People On Your Hall
Don't like getting to know the people you live with? Don't like doing hall activities? Don't like people just coming into your room to hang out? Don't come to Liberty.
5. If You Loathe People Praying For You
Liberty might not be the place for you if you don't like people asking how they can be praying for you. Prayer group on Wednesday nights, while optional, is most people's favorite time of the week. This is when we really get to catch up with people on our halls and see how their weeks are going and what we can do to help.
6. If You Don't Want Your Professors To Care
If you want to go to a large school where you can disappear in class and the professors won't know your name, then maybe you don't want to go to Liberty. Most upper level classes and degree programs have class sizes smaller than thirty people, and in a college with 14,000 students, this is almost unheard of. At Liberty, professors know your name and want to know if you're struggling so that they can help you.
7. If You Don't Like Jokes About Marriage
Liberty students have a giant joke about the proverbial "ring by spring." If you don't like match making and harmless dating jokes, don't come to Liberty. Otherwise, you might get kissed under the mistletoe provided by Jerry Jr. at Christmas Convo and end up married by Easter.
8. If You Dislike Attractive Girls/Guys
Liberty University has some really pretty people running around on it's campus, male and female alike. So if you're not looking for a potential mate or wish to date a potato, Liberty is not for you.
9. If You Hate Genuine People
The students a Liberty are just genuinely nice. There's no other way to put it. It's not an act and we don't get paid, people just really want to help you out and make you feel like family.
10. If You Don't Want To Learn Under Profound Speakers
Three times a week, Liberty students get the chance to sit under top speakers in their fields and learn all kinds of information. Some powerhouse speakers from this year include Francis Chan, Donald Trump, Bernie Sanders, and Passion.
11. If You Don't Want People To Challenge Your Ideas
If you just want to be brainwashed and follow the rest of the crowd, don't attend Liberty. They will ask you the hard questions like, WHY are you Pro-Life? WHY don't you believe in Euthanasia? WHY do you think the Bible says this?
12. If You Want To Stay The Same
Liberty is all about pushing their students to be better. They want us to be better people, better students, better thinkers, and better Christians, so if you don't want to be the best version of yourself and would rather stay the same, then Liberty is not for you.
13. If You Can't Handle Diversity
Liberty is made up of people that come from all around the world, all different religious groups, and backgrounds. We have everything from right-wing conservative to far-left liberals that run around campus. If you want everyone to be the same, our school might not be for you.
14. If You Aren't Adventurous
Liberty is set in the heart of the mountains. In less that twenty minutes, you can be hiking mountains like Sharp Top and Devil's Marble Yard or paddle boarding and canoeing at Camp Hydaway. Whatever you want to do adventure-wise, Liberty gives you the opportunity to do it.
All joking aside, Liberty is a wonderful place to call home and I'm so glad that I decided to make it my home for the next four years. The atmosphere and what the school stands for might not be for everyone, but for the people that do go here, there's nothing better than our Liberty family.
