While I truly do think that Minnesota is an absolutely wonderful place to be during the summer, I can’t help but miss some of the features of my favorite city in the world. Going to school in Boston is a completely different experience than attending college somewhere else. Boston is filled with incredible restaurants, gorgeous architecture and more history than you could ever ask for. It’s nearly impossible to get bored or to run out of things to cross off of your bucket list. Boston is such a unique city that everyone should try to explore for themselves sometime. Let me be the first person to warn you of the severe separation anxiety you will feel after you leave.
1. Dunkin’ Donuts
Not only do they have the best iced coffee on the planet, but who doesn’t love donuts?
2. The Citgo Sign
A true Boston landmark that also happens to identify Boston University’s East Campus.
3. The Esplanade
Even if you’re not a runner, the Esplanade has the absolute best view of the Charles River and the entire city.
4. Taking the T
It isn’t difficult to take for granted the easiness of hopping on the T and not having to spend money on gas or being forced to search for parking.
5. The “language”
Don't expect to hear the letter 'R' pronounced, and don't be surprised when 'wicked' is used interchangeably with 'really' or 'very'.
6. Fenway Park
I’m still a Twins fan and haven’t crossed over to the dark side of the Red Sox yet. However, the energy and team spirit that is exuded during and after Red Sox games by fans is insane.
7. Marathon Monday
Although it’s only one day out of the year, it’s the absolute BEST day of the year. It shows you what the definition of Boston Strong really is. The unity that everyone feels with each other is indescribable. Not to mention it’s a day dedicated to having fun and celebrating with all of your friends.
8. Beacon Street
You literally feel like you’re on the set of a movie--it’s so beautiful it doesn’t even seem real. The blossoming trees are utterly breathtaking in the spring.
9. The Museum of Fine Arts
It’s easy to spend an entire day exploring the vast collection of all types of artwork that the MFA has accumulated, and an added bonus is that students get in for free!
10. Newbury Street
Even if you’re a broke college student who can’t afford to shop in some of the high-end designer stores, it’s still fun to window shop or grab a bite to eat at one of the many amazing restaurants.
11. The skyline
Need I say more?
12. The people
Most people think of East Coasters as being rude and aggressive, but in reality those who grow up on the East Coast are just used to a different sort of lifestyle.
