Sports are a huge deal here in our country, whether it be soccer, baseball, football, or pretty much anything. Many sports fans all over tune in to watch their teams or go to games to cheer them on. But when it comes down to it, the only ones who do it right are us Philly fans. Although we think of ourselves as the best fans, there are some drawbacks any Philly fan can relate to.
1. Every year being ranked "The Worst" fans
By worst, they mean the most misbehaved fans. This is mainly because no one can deal with us. So collectively, all of these haters come together and put us at the top of the list. It's cool. We embrace it.
2. Everyone hates us
Let's be honest, some of us even hate each other. Overall, we can all be a little too much to handle. We are loud and will do just about anything to stick up for our teams, players, and each other.
3. We always look like the bad guys
No matter what the situation, the Philly fan gets blamed for it. End of story.
4. We’re almost too dedicated
Some of us may take it a bit over the top with the crazy outfits, random screaming outbursts at the opposite team, occasional tailgate fights -- you know, the usual. We love our teams so much that it can sometimes be too much for our own good.
5. Other people don’t understand
To understand Philly fans, you must be one. There is no possible way to describe the love and dedication we have for these teams, or why we do the things we do for them. The only possible way to understand it is to be one of us.
6. Poor trade decisions
Ah, this has made all of us Philly fans go berserk lately. It's never-ending, and we will continue to complain until someone listens to us.
7. Nobody likes to watch any type of sporting events with us
We will talk you down and show you how great our team is even if we are losing every second of the game. Sorry, no other options. We really don’t care if you don’t want to watch with us -- you most likely can’t handle the heat. It’s OK.
8. We will never be able to live down the Santa Claus Incident
There may have been a time that a couple of our fans booed and threw snowballs at Santa Claus, but listen, it was a huge misunderstanding. But again, we will never hear the end of this.
9. Our teams aren’t always the greatest
Now listen, I love my teams till the end. But sometimes they aren’t the best. This causes the outraged fans that are the epitome of Philly fans.
10. Constantly hearing the same jabs
"What's a super bowl win feel like?" "How do the playoffs feel?" Even when our teams do well, you can guarantee some other team that has had a good season a billion years ago will throw this in our face. No matter how irrelevant.
11. There is no escaping the fan base
Once you're in, you're in. There is no leaving, or switching sides. If you do, well, it was nice knowin' ya. Just kidding, trader.
In the end, there is no better fan base than us Philly fans. Our dedication and love for our city and its sports teams is overwhelming. There is no better atmosphere to be in, so if you're ever given the opportunity to see us in action, take it. I know it’s scary, but we’re some pretty awesome people -- just make sure you get on our good side.
