Valentine's Day is a perfect day to focus on love and appreciate your family and friends in your life. But every other day is a great time to refocus on yourself and learn to love yourself just a little bit more. You are amazing and unique and if you need a reminder, then check out my list below of ten ways to regain perspective and find your own personal "self-love."
1. Look in the mirror.
Appreciate what is in front of you. There is no need to compare yourself or believe you aren't good enough, because you are. You are special, you are unique, and a one of a kind. I know it sounds cheesy, but if you tell yourself those things when you look into the mirror, you are one step closer to loving yourself a little bit more.
2. Focus on your skills and talents.
Everyone is good at something. Whether it is speaking in front of a large crowd, painting a beautiful landscape or even just knitting an awesome scarf, you have something you can excel at. By focusing on your amazing skills, you are creating many more positive thoughts about yourself.
3. Exercise, eat healthy, meditate, repeat.
Now staying active and eating healthy foods may just seem like advice for changing your outward appearance. However, staying healthy is actually a great way to look at yourself in a different light. By strengthening your mind and body and realizing how powerful you really are, you are bound to have more positive mojo about yourself.
4. 'Let it go."
Don't focus on your past and simply 'let it go.' Replaying the past can inevitably cause you to doubt yourself as you end up reliving mistakes. Staying present is a great way to see the opportunities in front of you and the great things you have going on in your life. Also, feel free to play the "Frozen" song while reading this list.
5. Explore.
Go outside and travel to someplace new. Explore somewhere you have been wanting to go. By doing things on your bucket list, you will feel excited with yourself for your new discoveries and experiences.
6. DANCE!
Just do it. Trust me. You will always feel better.
7. Be less judgmental.
By not judging others, and yourself, you will feel so much more positive about your life and will be less likely to focus on the things you wish you had.
8. Laugh.
Laugh out loud. Turn on your favorite Netflix series or funny Youtube star for a few minutes of relaxation via laughing. Enjoying you day more is one key way to appreciate yourself.
9. Read that "one" book.
We all have that one book on our shelf that we have been meaning to read, yet can't quite find the time or motivation. But if it has been on your bucket list than it is meaningful to you and worth putting the time in to curl up with a blanket and finally read that 'one' book.
10. Spend time alone.
Now this one might sound strange because spending time with loved ones will usually make you happier. However, when you spend time alone, you learn more about you, your quirks, what you truly live for, and thus can ultimately love yourself.
