Winter isn't over after the Holidays.

It's the middle of winter and most people think that all the fun parts have passed. It's true that Christmas and New Years are the best times of the year for most people but just because those are over doesn't mean the fun is! Here is a list of ten things to keep these last couple winter months interesting and worth your while.

1. Go Ice Skating

This is a perfect thing to do on a day that you have nothing planned. Call up your boyfriend/girlfriend or best friends and go find a rink! If there isn't an outdoor one by you, find an indoor one, you won't even need your own skates because you can usually rent some! Make sure to check when free skate is!

2. Go Skiing/Snowboarding

Ask anyone who's ever skied or snowboarded before, they'll tell you that it's super fun. Even if you've never gone before it's worth the try! Most places have bunny hills and lessons for beginners. If there isn't a place nearby where you live, then you can get a group together and make a weekend trip out of it!

3. Hang Out in an Outdoor Hot Tub

This option might be a bit hard to find but not impossible. Lucky you, if you've got a friend or family member that has one of these babies. But, if you're not that lucky, there also might be some of them at ski lodges or waterparks.

4. Watch Movies and Cozy up with Hot Chocolate

Too cold to go outside? Then it's a perfect day to cozy up with that special someone (or your dog) with some hot chocolate (that you definitely should not give to your dog) and a few of your favorite movies! Don't forget to get the fire place going to help cozy things up even more!

5. Shop After The Holidays Sales

The perfect time to go shopping is after the holidays when all of the stores are having big sales. Its great because it's not usually crowded and you're getting some great deals at your favorite stores. Even if you don't feel like leaving the comfort of you home you can still get the sales online.

6. Go To A Hockey Game

Hockey is a super fun winter sport to watch! Check one out if you have the chance to this winter! You don't have to go as big as The NHL (but totally can if you want to). Or, you could just go to a local college or high school hockey game!

7. Go Snow Tubing

Most of us have been tubing behind a boat or tubing down a river in the summer but the tubing fun doesn't have to stop there! It's just like sledding, except you don't have to have your own sled! Get together a group of friends or family and go check it out!

8. Try Ice Fishing

Ice fishing can be just as fun as regular fishing. This is something I would especially recommend for those who love fishing in the summer but have never tried it in the winter! Try and find a friend or family member who's done it and ask to tag along! It's great bonding time and you might even catch dinner.

9. Bake Cookies

You might think that after Christmas the cookie baking is over. But if you're stuck inside on a snow day or it's just way too cold outside for anything else, make some chocolate chip cookies to share with your family! It's super fun and tastes delicious.

10. Snowmobiling

Snowmobiling is another great outdoors option! It's amazingly fun for those with adventure in their blood! If you've never gone and are willing to give it a shot, hit up one of your friends to take you for a spin! I promise you won't regret it!

These are just a few options of all the fun you can have in winter even after the holidays are over! Winter doesn't have to only be a freezing cold, annoyance in your life until spring comes around. There are plenty of things to do to enjoy these cold couple of winter months. And who knows, maybe after trying a few of these you might actually be wishing to have winter back this summer.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
