April is a stressful month for the college student with finals and big projects. During this time, it is easy to get swallowed up by the stress, which isn't entirely healthy.
Here are 10 stress relieving tips:
1. Take deep breaths.
Breathing deeply slows your heart rate and centers your focus. It allows you to slow down and relax for a moment.
2. Go exercise.
Exercising is an awesome way to relieve stress. It works out tension in your body and afterwards, you'll feel relaxed.
3. Turn on some music.
Soothing music can often change your mood and reduce anxiety.
4. Prepare for tomorrow.
Think ahead and try to get things done before they have to be. This should limit your stress and help you keep organized.
5. Participate in yoga or meditate.
Yoga and meditation are popular stress relieving methods. If you don't have access to a class, there are many available options online to help in the learning process.
6. Talk about it or write about it.
When your stress level is very high, it can be healthy to talk to someone about it or write down your worries. It is a form of venting, and it will make you feel better about your stress.
You can't function without enough sleep. Especially for college students, sleep seems like a low priority. However, sleep will reduce your stress significantly and better prepare your body to handle it.
8. Eat a healthy diet.
A healthy diet and stress are heavily correlated. With a lot on our plates, it is easy to go for the sugary foods instead, but healthy foods will enable your brain to handle the stress.
9. Laugh as much as possible.
Laughing relieves stress through the releasing of positive chemicals in your brain. Laughing may seem like a far-off idea when you're stressed, but it will definitely improve your mood.
10. Prioritize your to-do list.
Complete the hardest or most important items on your list first. You can get them out of the way and then relax.
