It has hit that time of year when the tissues are flying, the tea is warming, and the bubble baths are running. That's right its flu season. There are many things people will tell you to do to avoid catching the flu, but once you actually have it there not much you can do to get better. There are, however, a few things you can do to help you get through your "flu" days without going crazy.

1. Take Lots of Naps

Naps are very underrated in my opinion. A good nap can energize you and help you have a productive day even though you are feeling sick. Learning how to nap is a useful skill that you will never regret learning.

2. Drink your Favorite Hot Beverage

When I am sick, there is nothing better than a cup of my favorite mint tea. The tea soothes my heart and soul while also helping me to feel a little better. If you don't like tea, coffee or hot chocolate will also do the trick.

3. Watch your Favorite Movie

The last time I was feeling under the weather I watched both Dirty Dancing and Hello Dolly, two of my favorite movies. Relaxing and watching your favorite movie is a must when you are sick because it gives you time to rest and recoup.

4. Go Outside

If the weather is nice, spend some time outside. There is nothing like the fresh air and sunshine to lift your spirits when you are sick. If the weather is not as nice, just sitting by a window where you can look outside is just as good!

5. Drink Lots of Water

I know you've probably heard it a thousand times, but drinking water is one of the most important things to do when you are sick. It is easy to get dehydrated when you are not feeling well so drinking water is imperative to your well-being.

6. Cuddle Up in a Warm Blanket

One of my favorite items I got for Christmas is my heated blanket. Once I turn it on I get all warm and toasty within minutes. When you are sick and feeling cold, a warm blanket will do the trick.

7. Wear your Comfiest Clothes

When you are sick is the time you should break out you comfiest, but maybe not so cute sweats. Wear your hair in a messy bun, put on some fuzzy socks and wear your comfy clothes all day long.

8. Call your Best Friend

Calling your bestie will make you feel instantly better, whether you have just had a rough day or if you will like you are living in a foggy sickness. Having a nice chat with someone you haven't talked to in a while is something that will lift your spirits even when you are feeling down.

9. Have a Bowl of Soup

For some reason, the soup will make you feel better no matter how sick you are. My favorite types of soup are either broccoli cheddar, tomato, or the tradition chicken noodle soup. Next time you are sick, grab yourself a bowl and cuddle up with your heart warming soup.

10. Take a Bubble Bath

Light some candles, use a bath bomb, or simply just add bubbles, taking a bubble bath is my favorite thing to do when I have the flu. The time is so relaxing, and I always end up feeling better after I have taken a bubble bath.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
