We are days away from one of the biggest moments of 2016: the presidential election. While some are strongly endorsing one candidate and others are left pondering which is the "lesser of two evils", here's one thing I want you to remember.
Vote for whoever YOU think will best lead this country.
Not whoever your mom, dad, crazy uncle, siblings, or best friends think will best lead this country. Last time I checked, they are going to vote for their candidate, so why shouldn't you vote for yours? I cannot count the amount of people who've joined a bandwagon of Trump/Hillary voters simply because their surrounding influences are voting for them. In order to vote you have to be at least eighteen years of age, which means we're all adults here. So, why not act like an adult and vote for the person you care about?
So go ahead, vote for the racist, misogynistic bigot who is too cocky to run our country. Vote for the man that has openly bashed multiple human beings for not being "pretty enough" or "smart enough." Vote for the man that makes decisions strictly on impulse. Vote for the man with no political experience whatsoever. Vote for the man who promises to make America great again.
Unless of course, you think America's already great, then don't.
Then you can go ahead and vote for the woman, who instead of bashing people face forward, cannot even control which email account should be used for business and which is for personal matters. Vote for the woman who obviously believes she is above the law. Vote for the woman who rarely steps up to the plate to admit what she did, although I can say Trump is guilty of this as well. Vote for the woman who actually has political experience. Stand with her if you want and believe that we are stronger together.
Unless you think we are stronger separated from her, then don't.
If neither of these options sounds good to you, vote third party and watch your vote go to waste. Just kidding of course.
For some, the idea of Trump in office is glorifying, and for others, having Hillary become the first female president of the United States is a dream come true. But for me, it is saddening and embarrassing to see we as a country have voted for these two candidates to be our next president.
No one did this to us, but us.
We voted in the primaries back in May; therefore, we are the ones who picked the presidential candidates. So stop complaining about who's up there, because WE, all of us, put them there. This election is much deeper than man or woman, and it is far more important than the argument over abortion. Moreover, it goes far deeper than the legalization of marijuana and whether or not gay marriage is right or wrong. This election simply shows the sinful state America has fallen into.
When Obama was reelected back in 2012, I was ecstatic knowing I would be able to vote in the next election. Here we are, four years later, and, in my opinion, we are stuck with two complete idiots who don't deserve to be up there. But bitterness aside, come Tuesday, one of them will be elected to be our next president. So I encourage you to take these next 24 hours to pray about who the next leader of our country will be. I urge you to put aside your friends and families bias and vote for who you think is the best candidate for the country. And once the results roll in, I challenge you to pray for the winning candidate. Pray that God will use them, even if it isn't who you wanted to win. Pray for the nation, that we will grow stronger together AND that America will be a greater nation, whether Trump or Clinton is in office.
