The thing about the world is this, we are constantly finding flaws. Flaws in those around us, flaws in the system, just flaws. And the thing about those flaws, are that they’re never ours. They are always somebody else’s.
We are always looking for validation in other people’s mistakes. Validation that we aren’t bad people, or we aren’t hurting somebody’s existence because somebody else did it first. We can’t look in the mirror and face ourselves - we cannot take the step to owning our actions and taking responsibilities.
So here’s your weekly reminder that the fault lies with you. Every action you make has a reaction, and all of those reactions are either positive or negative - each stemming from your one, singular action.
It does not matter if somebody did it first, or if somebody told you it was okay. It does not matter if they deserved it, or if it was revenge. It does not matter.
What matters is the good we put into the world.
If everyone was to focus on themselves, and not worry about who said what, or who did what - then the opportunities would be endless. We would have no boundaries on where our love could not reach. No second guessing the chances we receive. Only kind actions, with positive reactions.
What you give to the world, is exactly what you get back.
Give love, get love. Give compassion, get compassion.
Give hate, get sorrow. Give destruction, get loneliness.
We cannot spend our time blaming others, or running away from our problems. We need to start taking a stand for what is right, and for what will benefit more than just our immediate selves. We are all cherished children of God, and we cannot be the best we can be if we cannot allow responsibility to fall on our shoulders.
Only we are to blame for our mistakes. Only we are to blame for our wrongdoing. There is no higher power controlling us. There is no other worldly being manipulating our words and our thoughts. There are no other excuses.
So be conscious of how you treat others. Be respectful, be kind, and be gracious. You never know what someone else is going for, and you never know what words will hurt the most.
We are lucky to be gifted with the opportunity to wake up every morning, with the ability to think and speak freely - don’t abuse it.
