As 2015 comes to an end, it's nice to look back on how magical Odell Beckham Jr.'s year was. Ever since the Giants wide receiver made his spectacular one-handed touchdown catch against the Cowboys in November 2014, he pretty much took the entire country by storm.
In fifteen of his 25 career games, Beckham had 100+ receiving yards. In a Monday Night Football game against the Dolphins, Beckham had his sixth-straight 100+ yard game, which tied a Giants franchise record.
Beckham ties for first in the league in receiving touchdowns (12), third in receiving yards (1,320) and receiving yards per game (101.5), and fourth in yards after catch (471).
The Giants are certainly benefitting from all of Beckham's explosive plays. The team currently has 3,655 total receiving yards this season, which is seventh in the league.
Not only is Beckham a phenomenal wide receiver, but he also held a world record. On January 29, he and Drew Brees got into the Guiness World Record books after Beckham caught 33 one-handed catches in under a minute.
Unfortunately, just a few days later, Iowa wide receiver Tevaun Smith broke Beckham's record with 41 one-handed catches.
In July, Beckham was one of six cover athletes for the ESPN Body Issue. Other cover athletes who joined Beckham this year included swimmer Natalie Coughlin, power forward and center Kevin Love, heptathlete Chantae McMillan, right fielder Bryce Harper and track star Amanda Bingson.
Later that month, Beckham won the ESPY award for "Best Play" for his one-handed touchdown catch. He was also nominated for "Best Breakthrough Athlete," but the award went to Little League star Mo'ne Davis.
Speaking of winning awards, Beckham was a big winner at the NFL Honors. On the night before Super Bowl XLIX, Beckham took home awards for "Offensive Rookie of the Year" and "Play of the Year."
In conclusion, Beckham's transformation from an LSU hero to an elite NFL receiver is truly remarkable. As LSU fans, we were used to seeing Beckham making one-handed catches when he was in college.
Now that he made his one-handed catch on primetime national television, lots of people from across the country get to experience Beckham's greatness on a weekly basis.
Odell Beckham Jr. has already gone places, and I can't wait to see more of what the future has in store for him.
