Dating a college football player isn’t all cute end of the game pictures and being the biggest fan there is, there is a lot more that goes into dating one.
You have to feed them, a lot. Breakfast, lunch, late lunch, dinner and more than likely something else RIGHT before bed. I mean my boyfriend eats all the time but by the time he gets backs to practice he is working off what he ate and then some, especially in the heat, will full pads on.
Unfortunately he will be going to school a lot earlier then you, like almost an entire month earlier and it definitely sucks, but know that he is going to put in work and it is going to show. You want him to do the best that he can do, even if that does mean leaving you behind in Maryland for a little bit.
If he is not in class, then he is at practice. Basically he wakes up eats, goes to class, eats, goes to practice, eats, and then relaxes and goes to bed. Yes, this is every day of the season so be prepared to talk less.
You will go hours and hours without hearing from them because of the full team meetings, O-Line and D-Line meetings, practice and team dinners. There is a lot that goes into making sure the boys are ready by the time the weekend rolls around but in the end it is all worth it.
Which brings me to Saturdays. Yes, its game day and I don’t mean the few hours they are actually playing the game, I mean from the second they wake up until the second they fall asleep. You can send them a good luck text or wish them in person and they appreciate it but they are 110% more focused about what they are about to do on the field than to reply, and that is OK.
Now, if they lose you are going to try and cheer them up as best you can with loving words and kisses but it really is not enough and that is okay too, you just have to be there for him and he will know. He will say hes fine even though he knows and we know, that he is not s again you just have to be there for him and cheer him on even more next week.
Now even if you go to different schools you will represent his team even more than your own at your university. You will have shirts and jackets and hats and even a few beads here and there. You will start calling his team, “our team” from the moment he signs that contract to play ball and that is exactly what you should do. You are his biggest fan and he needs you there for him.
I love my boyfriend more than anything and I absolutely love supporting him as he plays college football. Going to the games, getting to see him do what he does best and loves, that makes me so happy and proud to be his girlfriend. Shout out to all the football girlfriends, keep cheering him on.
Oh yeah and GO MOUNTAIN LIONS!
