Sometimes in life, we fall. And I think that when we fall, we forget that people are there to help us back up. And who is always there to help us when we fall down? Our sorority sisters. And sometimes I think we all forget what sisterhood is and how lucky we are to be where we are with our people. Our sisters are our people, they're the ones that accept us with all of our flaws, they're the ones to turn to, they're the ones that are going to be there for life. So I asked 20 sorority girls what sisterhood means to them because at the end of the day, no matter what is going on, we all need to remember what it means to be in a sisterhood.

"Sisterhood means always having someone to go to and never having to worry because your sisters always have your back. It's knowing that through thick and thin you'll always have someone on your side. it's late night talks and laughter. You never have to worry about anyone judging you because your always accepted for who you are." - Alpha Phi, Akron OH

"Sisterhood means to me that I have a support system not only within my only chapter but within the Panhellenic community. No matter what I'm feeling I always have a sister to turn to. It also means I have people who share the same values with me that I can relate to on not only a personal level but an emotional level in the fact that I can always feel safe around them. Sisterhood is also the reason I've made it this far in college. I have Greek life to thank for saving me when I didn't know I needed saving. Sisterhood is something I will always hold close to my heart."- Kappa Kappa Gamma, Akron OH

"Sisterhood is unconditional love."- Alpha Phi, Akron OH

"Sisterhood to me means having people who always are supporting me - even though every girl in KKG is different in her own beautiful way, my big and my other sisters always make sure I'm striving to be the best me that I can be. Sisterhood is having 75+ intelligent, aspiring, classy, sisters who loved me before they knew me. It's having people to study with, to laugh with, and to share life with. Sisterhood is my favorite aspect of college, and I am forever grateful for our internal bong." - Kappa Kappa Gamma, Bowling Green OH

"Sisterhood to me is having unconditional support at all times." - Alpha Phi, Kent OH

"To me, sisterhood was finding my home away from home after having a really hard time adjusting and meeting people my first year. They're the girls that consistently are there for me and introduce me to new things on campus. Sisterhood in itself is a weird word to me but I'm so thankful for it because the bonds I have taught myself how to love other women and not compare, judge or hate them because of stupid pettiness and now I'm able to admire them and all the amazing things they do."- Zeta Tau Alpha, Columbus OH

"Sisterhood to me is knowing that if I have a problem I know I can go to any one of them and they'd know exactly what to do and what to say. Whether it be needing someone to bitch and complain with or just someone to go hit up Taco Bell drive thru real quick, I know one of them will always be down. It's sharing the same ambitions and values for life and working towards them with each other. Always having someone to cheer you on and knowing when I leave my room I know I'll pass at least 3 of their pretty faces on my way to class, and sometimes even just that can brighten up my day."- Sigma Alpha Tau, Westerville OH

"Sisterhood means being there for sisters when they need you and doing anything and everything you can to help them."- Alpha Phi, Akron OH

"My favorite description of sisterhood is: a sworn obligation to be there for one another." - Delta Zeta, Bowling Green OH

"Sisterhood means coffee dates, late nights full of laughter and gossip, unconditional love, thousands of inside jokes, someone to always turn to. And I think that sisterhood is forgotten about, that we don't realize how lucky we are to have our sisters. Sisterhood is an unbreakable bond, it's not just for four years but for life."- Alpha Phi, Akron OH

"Sisterhood to me is being apart of something bigger than yourself. It's always having someone there, even if you're not close with them. It's all about having one common goal and to help better each other. Our uniqueness to each one of us is what makes our chapter great. And how we are all so different, but we all fit together as a whole. When you go through certain chapter rituals and stepping into the room with everyone there, it's a great feeling because you know that no matter what they're all there for you. And that's what sisterhood is to me."- Alpha Delta Pi, Akron OH

"It's a home, and those are your reasons to not give up. like you're having the crappiest day ever and you're apart of this sisterhood, something amazing. You give them a reason to believe in themselves. You're like each other's seat belts. You keep each other safe more than anything. You can't put into words how important your sisters are to you. They're just your sisters. They're your people. You could end up somewhere 1,000 miles away and you still have this place to go back to."- Delta Gamma, Akron OH

"Sisterhood is pretty simple, really. It's about knowing that you have 80 women behind you, to support you, to laugh with you, to cry with you, and to be your biggest fans."- Delta Zeta, Bowling Green OH

"Sisterhood means a safe place where you can go and not be afraid to get judged. It's a home away from home; knowing that you'll always have someone their for you with open arms. It's knowing that you'll always have someone there in good times, bad times, happy times, horrible times, when you bomb an exam, or you get rewarded for all your hard work. It's a place where everyone accepts you for you and loves you because of it."- Alpha Phi, Akron OH

"Sisterhood is friendship, coming together as one and doing good for others." - Kappa Kappa Gamma, Akron OH

"Sisterhood to me means loving the women who share the same values as you without judgement, as well as finding those close and amazing relationships with your sisters. It means finding your second family." - Delta Zeta, Akron OH

"Sisterhood means never having to stand alone. It's creating countless memories with people who love support you. It's learning the true meaning of friendship. Having 50 different closets of clothes to choose from. It's a special bond that no one but your chapter understands and being apart of something bigger than yourself. It's sharing values, and becoming the best possible version of yourself." - Delta Gamma, Akron OH

"To me sisterhood is this incredibly uplifting support. Sisterhood holds me to a high standard and empowers me to be better than I was through their support and encouragement. My sisterhood has allowed me to challenge myself because I know that even if I fail they will be there for me." - Alpha Gamma Delta, Akron OH

"Well, for me it means having a home away from home. Because I live about two hours away from where I go to school, so to have that secon-dfamily feeling on campus is so nice. I like knowing that even though I can't always go home to my biological sisters or my mom that I have these girls that are so close to me and always willing to be there when I need them." - Phi Mu, Cleveland OH

" To me, sisterhood means very much to me. It means always having someone to turn to when in need, whether it means just having someone to sit with at the campus dining hall, or having someone to cry to when everything seems like it's falling apart. It means that these people will be here for life, not just for the 4 years of college! Many of these sisters could be my bridesmaids at my future wedding someday, so these people I have met will be lifelong friends that I would have never met if I hadn't joined Kappa Delta. Sisterhood also means supporting each other through everything." - Kappa Delta, Bowling Green OH

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
