I've already shared why autumn is my favorite season, but I want to take this short time to share why October is hands-down my favorite month. The weather, sports, and Halloween are just a few reasons that I absolutely adore October.
First of all, lets discuss the weather. Once the calendar switched over to that glorious October 1, 2015, the switch from summer to fall also turned on. Bring on the glorious days of chilly winds, dropping temperatures, and nights that were just meant to be spent around a campfire, stuffing your face with smores and pumpkin spice lattes. As the days continue to get cooler, the sun goes down sooner, and the sweaters become more popular. October fashion consists of the best combinations of shorts, long sleeved t-shirts, jeans, vests, jackets, and booties. October weather is the perfect transitional period between parting with those beloved summer clothes and the revival of autumn attire.
Second, the month of October is a prime month for sports fans. You have everything you could wish for: Baseball, Football, Basketball. The post season of Major League Baseball is about to commence. With all the teams fighting for the pennant, this is an exciting time for baseball fans all over the nation. Football season is my personal favorite part of October sports. Your weekends will soon consist of Friday night lights with your beloved high school team, Saturday game days full of tailgating and losing your voice while standing in the student section, and NFL football games. (Side note: Dez Caught It). Basketball seasons are soon to begin as well. High school coaches are counting down the days until their first practices. The NBA preseason games are underway. The end of baseball, middle of football, and the start of basketball are a few more ways to get super thrilled for October.
Third, the last reason to adore October happens to fall on the last day of the month--Halloween. We all know the Mean Girls quote about this holiday. Well in my opinion, part of it is true. Halloween is the one night of the year where you can dress up as anything your heart desires and you will not be judged for it. If you want to wear a leotard and two buns like Miley, do it. If you want to be a sassy sailer or a cute cat, all power to you. If decide to dress up as a friendly field mouse...well be prepared to explain to people what you are. Carve your pumpkins. Eat your candy (or save it for a year). Have a Happy Halloween and last day of the best month of the year!
