It’s that time of the year again, folks. The leaves are changing, the weather is cooling down, and many major holidays are on the horizon. While it is true that everyone has their own preference about which month out of the year is the best, here are 11 reason why I believe that November is the greatest month of them all, hands down!
1. The Scenery Is Incredible!
As the air begins to get crisp, the colors of nature begin to change. What was once lush and green now begins to turn all shades of red and gold. Not only do the colors change, but animals begin to become more active, enjoying the cool weather. As the unbearable heat of summer fades away and the temperature continues to drop, November becomes the perfect time to step out into nature, take a quiet walk, and enjoy watching life start anew with the cool weather.
2. It’s Sweater Weather!
While this might not be exciting for all, it is in my opinion that there is nothing better than getting to put on a big, cozy sweater to ward off the cool November air. October is typically too hot and December usually requires more than a simple sweater, so November is one of the few months where you can actually wear your cute fall outfits without burning up or freezing.
3. Soups and Hot Foods Begin To Taste Better.
During the summer, anything that makes you warmer than you already are is a no-go, including hot foods. However, in November, soups and hot foods actually start to taste good again because we’re not dying from the heat. Sitting down for a bowl of warm soup on a chilly November evening always makes life seem a little better!
4. One Word: Bonfires!
Once again, since we’re no longer dying from the heat, November is the perfect time of the year to gather up your friends and family and have a bonfire! Staying out late, making s’mores and hot dogs and telling stories while staying warm by the fire is the perfect way to have a little bonding time with your favorite people.
5. You Get A Break From School (Finally!)
Once finding your way back to campus in the fall, all students begin counting down until we get another real break again…and that typically means waiting for Thanksgiving break. Students find November to be a wonderful time of the year because we finally receive that much-needed break we have been belly-aching about for months. Get ready to turn off those alarm clocks because November is coming, and it is bringing Thanksgiving Break with it!
6. Football Season Is In Full Swing.
No matter who you are in the South, football becomes our lives in the fall. Football is indeed exciting in October because the season is just beginning, but by the time November rolls around, football season is in full swing. Conference play has started and all the exciting games are finally being played. As anticipation begins to build, November prepares us for the greatest part of football season: playoffs.
7. Basketball Season Begins!
For those who aren’t so keen on football season, November also signifies the start of basketball season. Trading in green turf for a hardwood floor, the weather begins to cool and so moves our athletic competitions inside. Fans are either slowing down on their football fandom or waiting to join the madness of basketball season. Either way, November is the month that all basketball fans have waited eight months for: five straight months of hoops and hardwood.
8. Lots of Lattes.
November is also a glorious month for coffee fans all across the globe! Seasonal lattes are out and we plan to try as many and drink as much coffee as we possibly can. Not only is the ever-so-famous Pumpkin Spice Latte for sale, but holiday classics such as the Peppermint Mocha Latte or the Gingerbread Latte are also on the menu. All coffee lovers know that November is the greatest time of the year to get practically any kind or latte a person could possibly desire.
9. Thanksgiving Is Here!
With November comes Thanksgiving Break, and with Thanksgiving Break comes Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving is one of the very few days out of the year that you can eat as much as you can possibly handle and it be completely acceptable. After eating so much on Thanksgiving, you often don’t want to move for a couple days after, but it was worth every bite. So go ahead, fill up your plate with as much food as possible! November means Thanksgiving, and that means a free pass to eat more of our favorite foods than we really should.
10. The Incredible Shopping Sales.
Everyone knows that right after Thanksgiving, everything goes on sale at the mall. You always say you’re going out to buy Christmas gifts but then you end up only buying for yourself because everything is so cheap (Trust me, I’ve been there). The end of November is every bargain shoppers dream, because it now seems that you can buy much more for less. But you know you’re still going to spend way too much.
11. Christmas Is Right Around the Corner!
