After two months of the MLB season, the Cubs are controlling and the NL and the AL is fairly balanced with the AL East being the strongest A.L. division. Here are my updated predictions.
AL West: Rangers will win the AL West with 92 Wins.
- Texas Rangers 92-70
- Seattle Mariners 84-78
- Houston Astros 82-80
- Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 79-83
- Oakland Athletics 70-92
AL Central: After an injury plagued season, the Royals find themselves still in the hunt through June 11. The Cleveland Indians are having a great season, but the second half of the season will be tough for the Indians.
- Kansas City Royals 87-75
- Cleveland Indians 83-79
- Chicago White Sox 82-80
- Detroit Tigers 80-82
- Minnesota Twins 75-87
The offense has been there so far, and Marco Estrada is having a solid season on the bump. The AL will be a tight race down the stretch.
- Toronto Blue Jays 90-72
- Boston Red Sox 89-73
- New York Yankees 85-77
- Baltimore Orioles - 84-78
- Tampa Bay Rays - 77-85
Madison Bumgarner and Clayton Kershaw are dominating the AL West once again. The Giants and Dodgers will be battling it out for the division crown.
- San Francisco Giants 91-71
- Los Angeles Dodgers 90-72
- Arizona Diamondbacks 81-81
- Colorado Rockies 74-88
- San Diego Padres 71-91
The Chicago Cubs have been as good as advertised, but playing this well will be a hard pace to keep up with. The Cubs have the talent to win 100 or more games, but they also will have to play well during the dog days of July, which can be tough.
- Chicago Cubs 90-72
- St. Louis Cardinals 85-77
- Pittsburgh Pirates 85-77
- Milwaukee Brewers 70-92
- Cincinnati Reds 65-97
Bryce Harper is having another stellar year at the plate, and Stephen Strasburg has been dominate on the mound in the 2016 campaign. The Nationals may be the only other NL team that could give the Cubs a run for their money in the playoffs.
- Washington Nationals 91-71
- New York Mets 88-74
- Miami Marlins 81-81
- Philadelphia Phillies 70-92
- Atlanta Braves 63-99
World Series prediction: Rangers vs. Giants.
The weak AL will allow the Rangers to get into the World Series, but the Giants pitching rotation will carry them throughout. The Giants will defeat the Rangers 4-2 in six games.
AL Cy Young: Chris Sale.
Chris Sale is having another stellar season, currently sitting at a 10-2 record with a 2.87 ERA.
Prediction: 17-5 ERA: 2.33 SO: 221
NL Cy Young: Jake Arrieta.
Jake Arrieta has had a stellar season thus far, with a record of 9-1 and an ERA of 1.80. The success of the Cubs may help boost his voting for the Cy Young.
Prediction: 19-4 ERA: 2.11.
