There are many different parts to the Untied States. Clearly there is more than one state and many different climates throughout the nation. Though everyone has their own opinion and favorite place to be, I have come up with some pretty solid arguments as to why I think Indiana is one of the most underrated and under-appreciated states.
1. The views.
No, it isn't beach-side sunsets, but the orange-pink-blue-yellow-purple skies almost every night are pretty enjoyable. Between the peaceful cotton-candy cloud days and twinkling starry nights, 24 hours in this state can be priceless.
2. The weather.
Not all states get to experience all four seasons to the maximum level. Indiana does not take anything lightly — it is all or nothing. In the summer it does not just heat up — it becomes bone dry. Likewise in winter; it doesn't just snow, it does it alllllll. But without question, the most beautiful time to be in IN is from September until the middle of November, when fall is at its prime.
3. The towns.
We do not have numerous big cities other than Indianapolis. The other cities are just decent size. But the towns in Indiana are the perfect communities to be raised in. The medium or even small-one-stoplight-towns have such character and familiarization to them.
4. Going for drives.
This is very midwest thing — or so I have learned — but just simply getting into a car and driving around wherever life takes you. Wandering the curves and turns of country roads is one of the most relaxing things to do. No, there aren't mountains and countless interesting landmarks to see, but it is always fascinating what you can find each ride.
5. CORN.
Sweet corn is delicious, enough said.
6. Schools.
There are actually a lot of GREAT schools in the Hoosier state. Notre Dame, Purdue, Indiana University, Ball State, DEPAUW, Wabash (ew), IUPUI, Indianapolis University, Evansville, Indiana State, Butler, University of Southern Indiana, St. Joseph's, Bethel, Anderson, Franklin, Marion, Trine, and so many more. That is a lot of top schools jam packed into lil' ole Indiana.
7. Basketball.
Basketball season in Indiana is one of the best times of year. The constant hype about high school, college, and even though there's not a lot of great defensive focus, the NBA even gets quite the attention. People live to play, watch, cheer, coach, and talk about basketball.
8. Friday Night Lights.
High school football games in the middle of fall under the stadium lights are the absolute best. Whether you're in elementary school or watching your grandson play, there is a certain excitement at every single game.
There are countless other reasons Indiana is the bomb, but these eight reasons suffice as enough of an argument for now. Give the Hoosier state some love.
