Disclaimer: I wrote this unedited and in "()" I put the correct spelling, so you can better see how my brain tries to spell and make sense of words.

My brain and I have a very ineresting (interesting) relationship. She likes to flip words, fill in words that are not there, ignore things, refuse to understand that phonetics and syllabus are needed, and she is very buckshot when trying to write essesys (essays) out.

However, where she lacks in spelling and reading, she makes up for in art. My brain and I have an amazing relationship in capturing emotions and feelings, that I can't express through words but through art.

Unfortunately, being a dyslesic (dyslexic) means something are very unaviodable (unavoidable).

1) "Please Excuse Spelling"

As a college student, It's so embarrassing when I can't spell things right. Then I get looks on how could I have spelled something so wrong when it was such a simple word. It's not my fault. Texting it horrible sometimes because I often get the "huh?" or "whats that word mean?" Please excuse it, just because I can't spell write all the time does not dictate who I am as a student.

2) "I've been reading for hours"

Reading takes forEVER and I hate it. My mind begins to wonder and my brain feels over worked. Its like my brain has been doing push ups the past two hours but then barely made a full one.

Reading a page kind of feels like this:

The words aren't ACTUALLY MOVING though. That's the biggest myth; that If I'm dyelsix (dyslexic), the letters are moving phsycially (Physically).

It's not... this was the best gif I could find that best dipects (depicts) that goes on IN my brain.

Just try to read that paragrpah (paragraph)... that mental exhesation (exhaustion)and trying to keep up with the text is what happens.

3) Auido (Audio) Books are a must.

This was the only way I could get through the Pirncess (Princess) bride, Moby Dick, and any 11 page, size 5 font 1/4 spaced article I was assigned thus far in College. It helps me understand better and makes those long hours of reading a little fast.

4) "You have so many colors"

Damn right I do! I need them all. I swear. My notes make looks like a splurge of highlighters at a party, but there's a method to my madness.

5) "Can you repeat that?"

My brain needs to process everything you are saying. so please repeat things to me 2-3 more times. It's not that I'm not listening I want to get things right the first time (time) so everyone is happy!

6) "I can do this!"

This is my mantra so everything difficult that comes my way.

My "normal" is different than yours and it takes me a bit to even navigate my own mind.

But I love my brain.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
