To My Parent Who Coached Me

To my parent who coached me,

What can I say? The experience of being a coach's kid is like no other. You are always at the field, even if practice is not going on. You are pushing me to get better when we are sitting at the dinner table. The sport becomes our life it is our bond. The sport has also blessed us with memories that will truly never be forgotten. We were known as the duo. We would go out every day sharing our passion with everyone around us. You were by my side as a parent and as a coach my whole life. There were obviously some bumps in the road, but it made us stronger and got us the relationship we have today. Having you as my coach was honestly incredible looking back I would never want to change it. However, I was not the only person you impacted.

Every time new players were added to the team, I saw how you treated them. You were a role model not only for me, but also for the other girls as well. Girls see you as a parental figure; they cherish the time you have spent with them. You invest so much into what you do because you love it. People see how great you are andthe difference you make. I could not think of a better coach than you. I see girls post instagram pictures with you saying how much they look up to you. I see girls wishing you happy fathers day and mothers day when they have their own parents.

Each game you blessed a life. Each practice you made a memory. You made kids fall in love with the sport and be confident in who they were. You gave kids life changing oppertunities. I probably never thanked you enough and this letter won't justify it either. You truly have blessed my life by being my parent. However, being my coach has even been a better blessing. I knew I could look to the sideline and see my biggest supporter and my teams. You cared about us on and off the field. Never forget the impact you have made. You have shaped these girls to be who they are today.

As I am growing up I can look back and see my parent was truly involved. They truly cared about me and the people around them. It takes a strong person to deal with teenagers, but a even bigger person to connect with them. I thank you for changing my life for the better and showing me how to be as a parent. The memories that were left on that field are incredible. I would not be the person I am today without you being my coach.

Like I said before, this letter does not do you justice. You are incredible and will forever be the best coach I've ever had. Remember this letter when we lose a game. Remember all the good you have done when you have to make cuts. Rememeber the impact that you yourself have made.

Love,

Your Child

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
