I am very fair. People often compare me to Snow White due to my dark features but porcelain white skin. Summer is my favorite season because of my birthday and no school but it’s also the season of the yearly thought “I want to be tan.” So my first time at the beach, I literally reflect off of the sun and all of these people are there with their nice tanned skin that they’ve been working on since Memorial Day Weekend. That’s cool though, just gonna see it as some inspiration for this wonderful body changing day. But if you are fair skinned, you know as well as I do, you are not leaving that beach a glowing tan god/goddess. Here are some of the thoughts pale people have while trying to tan:
1. “ Ok let’s apply sunscreen to prevent burning.”
2. “Believe I wont need aloe tonight and I can achieve.”
3. “Let me pull my bathing suit a little more upward so I can get more skin tanned.”
4. “Wow I feel the heat on my body but see no red. Is this the moment I've been waiting for?"
5. “I can't wait to shower and see how I look when all the sunscreen washes off.”
6. “ Maybe one day I can do the 'hot dog or legs pic.'”
7. “ Let’s flip. Can't have the front tan and not the back.”
8. “ I can't wait to go back home and have compliments on my color.”
9. “ What genes do these tan people have that I lack?”
10. “ Let’s not show how real the Irish problems are right now.”
11. “ I should just move to England.”
12. “ Let's reapply sunscreen. No burning for me today.”
And well let’s just say after you get home and shower, your family has trouble deciphering between you and Larry The Lobster from Spongebob. Not to mention, when the sunburn peels, it just goes back to pale. Sigh.
