The new year brings lots of things: new relationships, new beginnings, and new opportunities. Whether you're working on your jump shot or trying to get an A in your toughest class, the new year is a time for improvements. It may be tough for people to acknowledge that they need improvement in some areas, but I will be the first one to admit that I could use some, whether I like it or not. There are so many things in my life that cause so much unneeded stress and negativity, and removing these factors will be a much needed improvement!

1. My Overthinking

Overthinking is a major cause of stress. When you overthink, your judgement gets cloudy and your stress gets elevated. You become so consumed with negative thoughts, that there's no room for the good ones. Overthinking is mainly caused by fear, so thinking of what could go right, rather than what could go wrong, is the first step.

2. Those I Surround Myself With

It is REALLY important to surround yourself with people who lift you up and make you happy, rather than fill your life with negativity. You should surround yourself with people and places that inspire you. Being around those who see the greatness in you, even if you cannot, is the key to pure happiness.

3. Jealousy

Being full of jealousy is something I truly dislike about myself. This too clouds my judgement, and at times stalls my relationships with others. Getting rid of my jealous antics will make me a happier person, inside and out.

4. Gossiping

I'm so over gossip. It's not healthy to listen to it or feed into it, and cutting it out of my life will be a healthy fit. I know I'll hear gossip now and then, but it's my choice if I feed into it or not.

5. My Exercise Routine

Which is currently nonexistent. A healthier lifestyle is something i would love to have, and I think working out more will help me achieve the best me I want to be!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
